Wasted 11 million on tagging a bottom top 10 TE and then proceeds not to workout a contract. Why tag him in the 1st first place and let Amari go?

Meanwhile SB champs and 2x SB appearance in the same decade gets to keep their core player while adding depth via FA.

This season failure will be all due to Stephen Jones.

Since when is the TE that was 6th in yardage and 4th in TD's a bottom 10 TE?

You don't have to be a fan of Schultz, but you don't have to be ridiculously and irrationally negative about him either.

The cap procedures & rules are same for all teams? Why can’t we do the same thing?
Philly did it for a few years but it caught up with them.

Pay your credit card with another credit card.

It's worth it if it results in Super Bowl wins.

Most teams that tried it failed (Washington, etc..).

Cowboys tried it in the Romo era but it failed.

Philly did make the playoffs last season?
What year did they win the SB, it can’t be more than a decade or 27 years ago?

Our front office is run by amateurs which puts us at a competitive disadvantage.

It was actually a smart move. We lost cooper (stupid of us but it is what it is). We lost Wilson. And if we lost Schultz then that would be almost 60% of our passing production.

There were three other TEs that got tagged as well. Not much other options available. Draft is an unknown at the time. Elite level TEs are above 15M so the tag was about right for one year. So he may have over paid By what in your opinion? Couple of million but we hedge our bets. See if Ferguson is the answer. Not hand out a large contract.

And btw, the cap is getting larger. Will probably jump by 25% next couple of years so as a result all salaries move up. You may also be stuck in cap levels of the past .

He said "bottom top 10 TE". Meaning he is nearer the 10th TE and not the top. His ranking is very reasonable.

I think tagging Schultz was not the best idea, but it does take care of this season and allows the other tight ends (and WR) to get up to speed with Dak. Paying Schultz long term money is a bad idea.

Unless he plays for what he's worth, around 8-9 mil/season. Then it's a great idea.
