Serious Question: Is Dak better now than Romo in his prime?

He struggles with the deeper windows. It's just a fact. He rarely throws the 7 route against Cover 2, for example. He missed multiple windows in the games I cited. Warner made statements during his breakdown like, "I see Dak do this all the time." Again, take it up with the hall of famer.

They lost those games as a team. They won't do anything until they can stop the run, especially with Dak behind center.
Yup but hes 7th overall in average air yards per attempt. So he throws short?

No. He struggles hitting windows. Not every deep throw requires hitting a window. That usually becomes more difficult against better defenses.

Maybe a few plays he will miss but every qb does. The fact he was 4th in comp % and 7th in average air yards per attempt. I just dont think your argument holds any weight. Its ok to be wrong. Just give in i wont even say i told you so.

He was handed a loaded team that was coming off a major injury plagued year from before hence the top four pick in the draft

The only major injury that had an impact was to Romo who was having to carry the team in 2015. Terrible QB play led to that 4-12 season. The Cowboys have been a QB dependent team ever since the team declined in the late 90s/early 2000s. Once Troy Aikman was released the team couldn’t win consistently. Anytime Romo missed games the Cowboys lost. When Dak was injured in 2020 we suffered a losing season.

Romo was much more accurate with the football and its not even close right now. If his accuracy gets better he will exceed Romo in Romo's prime because he's bigger and stronger and probably a better leader. Gosh I wish Romo would have had the receivers we had last year when he was in his prime.

We had the #1 offense last season, what was our defense ranked? Special teams? You think our coaching is better currently?
I'm not sure. I still think coaching is the main reason we haven't advanced in the playoffs. I don't blame Dak, as I think he and Romo have talent to win the SB. Garrett often tried to outsmart the other teams in the playoffs by departing from what worked during the season. I'm not sure what McCarthy does.

Like I said- you've got box scores. I'll stick with the hall of famer and his film study.

Romo had a knack for extending plays, avoiding sacks, and could simply make throws Dak cannot. Dak is a more consistent game manager while Romo was a gun slinger. Dak is a good QB but we have seen what his limitations are.

If you look at the QBR they are about even but the breakdown of run/pass shows Romo as the better passer and Dak makes up for that with his feet.

Not sure it’s a fair comparison though. Romo was at his absolutely best at the end — his body just gave out on him. Dak has always shown he can improve. My hope is that continues.

Why does one have to be better than the other? More to the point, so what if one or the other is/was?

Cowboys haven't won anything of note so comparing the two or trying to determine which is better is meaningless....

Oh sorry, I thought i responded to this, must have been in my mind.

I have often said that the cowboys win the same super bowls with Romo behind center on those 90s teams. No doubt in my mind. Aikman, for as good as he was, was an absolute statue and fell apart when everything wasn't perfect.

Everything was almost always perfect up until 1996 for Troy. Why was that? Because he played on some of the most talented teams in NFL history. Yet...i never hear him bashed by people like you for that but Dak is bashed unmercifully for having a fraction of the talent around him that Aikman did.

I believe Dak could have won playing qb for those Cowboys as well. Not a stretch at all when you have the running game they had and the perpetual #1 defenses in the league.
No way Dak would survive in that Norv Turner timing based offense that relied on the QB to put the ball in the air before the receiver made a break and at a particular place. Aikman was highly accurate. Romo arguably just as highly accurate, but if not, slightly less than Aikman. Dak’s accuracy is not a strength.
