In my opinion it starts with defense .
Nose tackle, middle linebacker, strong safety.
And offense in my opinion,
Center, left tackle, wide receiver.
The franchise seems to understand the offensive side of the ball. But they’ve been lacking in that position on defense for years . Can’t wait for preseason football go cowboys

Cant say I agree with your list for offense or defense. Heck you left QB out of offense.

NT, safety?

Cowboys have bungled the offense the last few years trying to feature Zeke and the run game. Getting a little too skill position dependent and neglected the Oline and the TE positions.

I don’t think you have to have the best quarterback in the league to win a championship. Yes but they understand the importance of Center, left tackle wide receiver. Yeah they definitely screwed up the running game. But I don’t think it’s the most important position when it comes to top three

You’re not going to win without a Aaron Donald, Vince Wilfork, type player . That’s why I believe nose tackle is the second most important position on defense. After middle linebacker

I do think many get nose tackle confused with a 3-tech Tackle. Like Aaron Donald, for instance, is not a nose tackle but a 3-tech. He is a DE in a 3-4. So is Fletcher Cox, so is Chris Jones, Richard Seymour,

Bro, Aaron Donald is a generational if not the best DT in NFL history. Not even close to your typical NT. He is a guy they move all around the line up and down.

NT is typically a first and second down kinda big guy. You want to say DT, you could make more of a case. But still Its not more important than DE or CB. I would also put MLB right there.

Cowboys have not prioritized up the middle in a longtime
DT and Safety are largely neglected.

I agree with safety although I am quite happy with who we have at the minute. I wouldn't agree with DT though, we have thrown a fair bit of draft capital at the position. Probably more here than anywhere else other than DE.

DT - 2nd (Hill), 3rd (Gallimore), 3rd (Odigizuwa), 3rd (Golston), 5th (Ridgeway), 6th (Bohanna).

We also spent a fair bit on players (Crawford, Poe, McCoy, Bennett). I think 1T we have neglected but we've mostly made bad decisions rather than under-invested at 3T.

I would say 3 most important on offense would be a franchise QB, stud LT, and stud C..... receivers and backs can be interchangeable and adequate. For defense, stud DE, lockdown CB, and stud MLB. DT would be close behind.

Imagine thinking QB isn't one of the 3 most important positions on offense.

I'm unable to imagine thinking that. At times in my life I was required to make BS arguments about a variety of topics. I was pretty good at it too. I can't even think where I'd start trying to make that case.

Have not seen a # One draft pick on a DT in it seems forever, or a high priced free agent their either.

Randy white. Throughout the years if you don’t have someone to pressure the middle of the offense you’re not winning. I don’t think you have to have the best in the league but you do have to be very good at that position
