Wilson was way too expensive for what you get.
Oh. Didn’t realize he was wanting big money. We could probly get the same results with a good rookie as we will Brown. Unless they are going to use him as a blocker only TE on run plays if he is fast enough to seal the edge on a off tackle run.

Vasher can block at a very high level and play ST's at a very high level? I haven't heard this about him, where'd you get that info?

Tuphus, told me some things about him among some other things I read of him on this website. He's impressed the staff, as well. I don't know if he's had much experience on special teams, also, but I know he's been more adept lately as a receiver than what Brown has. He might also be adept at special teams, but I can't recall if that's true or not. We'll see how both of them pan out, as soon as TC gets underway, though. Brown doesn't impress me as a receiver -- that's the thing that mainly gives me cause for concern.

This Noah Brown thing is so strange to me.

Why are y’all so obsessed with the 5th WR? WR5’s are guys who rarely see the field for consistent offensive snaps, they are primarily ST’ers. When they do get to play, you’re looking for a reliable/solid player who can help in a pinch.

Noah Brown is the epitome of what a WR5 is.

You can hope for a playmaking guy to take his spot but that’s not what WR5’s are on the roster for. If the guy can’t block and play ST’s better than Noah Brown he won’t make the team over him, simple.

The top 4 WR’s are who you look for to make plays, not WR5. Additionally, none of the other WR’s have shown anything to usurp him.

If Fehoko, Vasher, or one of the other guys can make plays in the preseason and show higher than WR 4/5 potential while also playing ST’s at a high level then you won’t see Noah Brown on the team. But until that happens you’re not gonna see Brown replaced and rightfully so.

You don’t need a finesse WR5 you need a ST’er who does the dirty work. Stop worrying so much about guys who are 5th on the depth chart.

Thank you!

No, thank you.
Our obsession with middling to no talent is excessive. Toxic, even.

We fall for Jerry's regimen of keeping JAGs way beyond their expiration date. Look at Jaylon, Sean Leach, LVE, etc.
Why is Noah Brown on his 5th year and still a project?
Move on Jerry.

Great special teams.

He was my pet cat the season he was drafted. I think he just stuck and now he's so familiar with the system that he can be a light contributor. He hasn't set the world on fire, but he does have a few roles and does his job well.

That's the thing about being a 3rd day draft pick or free agent. You aren't going to get first shot. Therefore, you have to stick by doing just one thing better than everybody else. That gets you in but, in order to stay in, you have to keep learning and refining your other skills. I think Noah is doing that.

Noah Brown has been increasing his contributions to the team over the two past seasons and his trajectory is in the right direction. Who knows? There is a possibility that he could be the one with a surprise breakout season.

Special teams blocking catches most passes to him and more important he’s cap friendly . Coming off last yr I thought Malik Turner would challenge this roster spot but Dallas showed little interest keeping him.

Either Jimmy G or Trey Lance I think Turner will make some noise in Santa Clara .

Wilson is a very nice player, just not the guy you pay.

Ah, that makes sense. I was confused when you said he could do what Noah does. Sounds to me as if he's vying for the WR4 role.

It remains to be seen how well Vasher is able to block in pro ball. He'll be tested in TC, like every other WR. What more can I say? May the best man win. That's what training camp is for, when all is said and done. If Vasher's capabilities don't suit the offensive staff, they'll adjust accordingly. Much the same holds true for Noah Brown. Vasher has yet to pass muster, even though he's impressed the staff so far. If Noah Brown's blocking skills are deemed more important than Vasher's receiving skills, the decision may be fairly obvious. Both are vying for a WR role. Here's hoping a wise choice is made.

The guy's been hidden in the depth chart. Brown’s prowess as a blocker could be a factor here. If the Cowboys lean more on their run game during Gallup’s potential absence, Noah could get to see more snaps for that side of his game as well.

And consider this, James Washington & Jalen Tolbert have never played a single down for the Cowboys. Simi Fehoko only had seven snaps on offense last year & was never targeted.

Who cares who played a down, nobody has played a down this NFL season

You won't be saying that 2-3 games into the season...and we should have kept Malik Turner, who showed us more in ONE play than Brown has shown us in FIVE years. I trust the Niners to do the right thing more than Booger and Chuckles..

Besides being the lead motion wide receiver on a run play to block, what else does he bring to the table?

I'm hoping we can go with someone else this season. Vasher or an unknown camp/pre-season standout. Please give me your thoughts, keep him, or let the experiment be over!!??

Noah Brown is one of those players that shows fan's knowledge of the game.
- Anybody that dislikes Noah Brown does not see the game the same way coaches or ex-players see it.
- Moose said during a pre-season broadcast that Noah Brown is one of his favorites of the non-starter type players on the roster.
- They've had multiple WR coaches during Brown's tenure and they all seem to see some value in keeping him.
- The ST coaches love him.

  • If you don't already know, then it will be difficult for me to explain the value of Noah Brown.
  • It really requires reviewing a lot of game footage.
    • 1: He could likely make a team as a ST-only player similar to C.J. Goodwin.
      • The fact that Brown also has value as an offensive player is a bonus.
    • 2: He blocks better than some NFL TEs; however, defenses bring in an extra LB when teams go to 2 TE sets.
      • Defenses stay in Nickel with Brown as the 3rd WR.
      • That means Brown is likely blocking a DB which is a big mismatch in favor of the Cowboys.
      • Brown often pancakes NFL Strong Safeties and can hold his own against most LBs.
    • 3: Anything that Brown contributes as a receiver is a double-bonus after his value on ST and as a blocker.
  • If the Cowboys part ways with Noah Brown, I predict that the Rams would immediately sign him.
    • Blocking by WRs is an integral part of the Rams run blocking scheme.
    • They use less 2 TE sets than any other team.

This long story about nothing clearly you're bored, I didn't even read it. What a waste of space in this lovely forum

He's a gunner who will catch 10 balls a year or offense.

I don't get why any fan would trash him, to be honest. He's a dirty-work kind of player, he's done all kinds of different roles asked of him (remember the snaps Linehan gave him at H-back?), he doesn't make big mistakes, and he works cheap. Brown is exactly the WR you want to have at the bottom of your depth chart.
