The idea was to kick Tyron inside where the hope was that position would help him stay more healthy. If he got injured then replacing him at LG would be easier.

Kicking Tyler outside to LT early on camp would allow him to learn the position and better prepare him thus solidifying the most important position on the Oline.
Tyron could have been injured playing LG just as easily as he could have been injured playing LT. The OL would have been better this season with Tyron at LT and Tyler at LG. After getting some experience this season, they could have evaluated Tyler and they would have an ideal if he was ready to move to LT. Tyler has a ways to go before he will be ready. The offense will just have to suffer this season.

It means our Oline was thin to begin with and our backups suck. Means alot of things actually. Means we have a RB that cant make plays without a great Oline. Means we have an OC that cant adjust. Means we have a GM thats a complete moron.

And last, but not least...

Buddy, its already blown. Doesnt matter where he plays. Its over. Any chance we had of having a great year went when Smith went down.
I kinda knew that anyway, just didn't want to think that way already.

Agreed that Tyron was essential. Almost as important as Dak.

They are really stuck and did it to themselves. I just really don't know what the direction/plan actually is for this franchise.

If Jerry is going to slow roll this Oline rebuild he can kiss goodbye any window he has in between having to pay Lamb, Diggs, Parsons.

I suggested the best move for the oline would be to move Tyron Smith to LG and have Tyler Smith compete and learn LT. That way the best 5 were on the line and injury riddled

Everyone hated that idea and insulted me.

And look where we are now.
I too mentioned that Smith should have been moved a couple of years ago. Yes, he's a great O-Lineman but when the injuries started to pile up and he was starting to miss a lot of games the front office should have drafted his replacement and probably wouldn't be in the position they're in today.

Actually they specifically said he would be a left side player.

And I always said Tyler Smith was going to play LT and Issac Alarcon at LG when Tyron got hurt.

If this was Connor Williams or McGovern they would be thrown to the QB by the DT bull rush. BTW the center whiffed on his assist and he still anchored down.

You act like an agent. Do you get paid to promote these guys?

Tyler is no Elkback. He was a 1st round draft pick.

And that mentality of not finding a replacement for a player because he's good when healthy is exact mentality that the Jones have. The fact that Which is exactly why the team is in this situation. Poor planning.

Tyron has missed 19 games in the last 2 seasons alone. Moving him inside so that the future could have the opportunity to take over makes total sense to me.

They did draft his replacement. Now he needs replacing. But they're not going to replace him before he needs to be replaced.

You're making it sound like he was going to be benched when we replaced him. He'd been playing LG. The Eagles did this with Peter's. The last season or 2 he was in Philly. Tyron could have handled it.

Just saying that the front office needs to be more proactive rather than reactive. Everyone saw this injury coming from a mile a way. It was only a matter of whey. Why wait until it happens.
