I think, and obviously this hinges on his desire to be a HC again, Quinn is as good as gone this season. He's done a fantastic job with our defense the last two seasons, and surely, the rest of the NFL has noticed.

Sure, he has some shiny toys like Parsons, but you still have to put them in position to shine.

I did like the idea, that somebody mentioned earlier in the thread, of Al Harris. That is an intriguing name. He seems to really have our corners playing well.

If MM keeps this up, gonna have a hard time firing him. 3-0 this season with a backup QB. Even if you don't like MM, you have to admit he's done a good job keeping things together.

Especially with what Garrett was like with backups. We'd probably be 0-4 if we had Garrett.

i’d like to hear proof/context of him saying it, because i have a hard time believing it. i’d imagine it was something more akin to meaning “id follow him to the ends of the earth” type thing than “id leave to whichever team he goes”

I'm hoping that's the context as well.

Why would he go be DC with a new team that DQ is still likely to run when he knows what he has here in guys like Parsons, diggs, etc?

It's going to come down to money and how the situation unfolds. If DQ offers him the job before the Jones boys, I can see Whitt going with him.

No way Whitt would do that. It would be a backwards move for him.

Why would it be a backward move? He would have the DC for either team. It's going to come down to money and how the situation unfolds. If DQ offers him the job before the Jones boys, I can see Whitt going with him.

If Whit is under contract, can Cowboys deny permission for Whitt to leave ?

Not sure about the contract situation but I don't think it would be a good idea. Last time we did that (Callahan), it didn't work out well.

After this year. Who do we get to replace him that can run a defense as well as he does?

having said that, I hope JJ throws everything at him to stay. I haven’t ever seen such a turn around for a defense in my life.
Make him the HC. Screw Payton (McCarthy 2.0).

DQ has done a great job as DC for the Cowboys. The unit has improved exponentially since he took over. I would love for him to be the next HC of the Cowboys; but I don’t think he would do it here in Dallas.

I think that MM leaves him alone and allows him to run his defense with a lot of autonomy. Clearly, that would change once he became HC and have to deal with the BS the Jones’ boys bring to the table. DQ is a players coach who has a strong, fiery personality and holds his players accountable; this is the type of HC that is not valued in Dallas by Coach Jones

Likely promote George edwards to assistant head coach and then bring in zimmer. Those 2 have a relationship from Minnesota and zimm has a relationship with the Jones’s.

obviously much rather keep Quinn but you keep some continuity with edwards and then make the transition smoother because they know each other. Zimmer is old and as a head coach kind of sucks but as a defensive coordinator I think he can be fine. A little stubborn and some of his schemes a bit dated but that’s where edwards can come into the picture to keep things fresh and have some flexibility.

also as mentioned in this thread joe Whitt jr is another possibility but I bet they go with a zimmer

Because for a team to hire DQ it must mean their defense sucks. And the current Cowboys defense doesn’t suck. Money won’t be an issue for Jerry he pays his assistants well. It makes no since for Whitt to do that unless he just loves DQ that much.

Yea any defense

Adding a generational talent to a unit will do that

That's as hilarious as it is delusional.

this is not boxing ... it's not a one man deal.
even a Donald, Watt, Garrett, etc. need a strong supporting cast
