CFZ After reading Jimmy's book, I'm not expecting a ROH ceremony any time soon

I'm more jam. I'm very impressed with Risen's like-collecting ability, but like Jimmy, I'm not sure that makes him ROH worthy. I do think he's worthy of having his name etched on a bathroom stall at A&T Stadium, though.
I have a long long way to go to reach Risen's status.

Jimmy is in the Hall.of Fame
That trumps The Ring of Honor. I wouldn't give 2 shots about being in it.

They were both egomaniacs....i don't blame Jimmy for leaving, I'd have done the same, but I wouldn't expect to be put in the ROH.
If Jerry really wanted to stick it to Jimmy, he'd put Barry Switzer in. Lol, can you image the meltdown.
Putting Barry in would just be stupid and ignorant.

I mean, it's a great book and it's not all about Jerry or even the Cowboys.

Jimmy talks about his coaching philosophy (the Pygmalion Theory), what it takes to build a championship team, how he scouted players and the specific traits that he had to have, helping his son defeat alcoholism, lamenting on how his dedication to winning adversely affected his family, coaching the Miami Dolphins, his time on Survivor, life in retirement, etc.

I'd recommend this book to people who aren't even fans of Miami or the Cowboys.

I read it just to get into the mind of someone who built the greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen. It's worth that alone.

I'm sure it is. I never really have time to read books anymore, and since my job every day is editing and putting together newspapers, If what I read here took much effort, I probably wouldn't do it either.

I listen to Audible at work. You can get three books a month for I think $15 or $20.

I'm not a big fan of sitting down and reading a book. It gets boring.

Fair enough. I've just never gotten into audiobooks.

No surprise here because if Jimmy was going to tell his professional story accurately he couldn't do it without exposing Jerry but it sure won't help expedite his ROH induction I'm sure.

I knew the story well and it still made me sick to read it. An Owner destroying a dynasty simply because he wanted credit for things he didn't do. It's the most egregious act I've ever seen in sports.

IMO he took it easy on Jerry. He doesn't go into that much depth but he has to address it to explain his departure from Dallas. Why he was burned out. How long he was dealing with this nonsense.

To the sane these comments are rather benign. To an egomaniac they are a declaration of war.

I fear he will leave this Earth never seeing his name where it belongs in that stadium and that will be yet another abomination committed by the 9th wonder of the world: the ego of Jerry Jones.

Who is 80 years, 1 month and 16 days old. In case anyone was wondering.
Jerry looks like Al Davis in the final years, I think jerry out lives him and with pressure from the media to Stephen it will be done with ease. Too bad Jerry doesn’t get the pressure he deserves from the media to get Jimmy in. This guy gets a cake walk with anything he does. 30 years of hiding a child born outside his marriage, unreal.

I listened to the book last week on Audible and yes, he took it easy on jerry. He could have ripped him to shreds but he didn't. He didn't go into much detail but he did say he wanted to be seen more as a football guy because no one cheers when you land a deal that Nets you $5 million profit.

According to jimmy, Jerry told him to "make it look like we're talking about something for the cameras in the draft room" I think around the 93 season. It could have been sooner.

He was actually thinking about staying until the drunken comment by Jerry early in the morning about the 500 coaches who could have won was published at the Dallas morning news.

So drunken Jerry comes in while Jimmy was in the middle of a conversation with people at the bar who were no longer affiliated with the Cowboys. They had their own table . This was for some owners meeting in Miami if I'm not mistaken. It was Norv turner, Dave Wandstedt, a media lady that Jerry used for her knowledge and setting up a TV show and then fired, and then jimmy. Well Jerry wanted to toast the super bowl. What the hell? It's March and nobody there won the Super Bowl except for jimmy.

Everybody was silent, Jimmy said he thought he raised his glass but others at the table said he didn't. And Jerry said a few Choice words and stormed out.

Actually it happened at Pleasure Island at Disney World (now Disney Springs).
