Tagliabue Ruling Today Could Mean The End Of Sean Payton In New Orleans

If you haven't heard yet, Paul Tagliabue today ruled on the Saints "bounty" case.

He "vacated" all player suspensions saying there wasn't enough "evidence" even though they supposedly had 50,000 pages of it.

It's a very confusing ruling because on one hand he says the players weren't guilty but then reaffirms Goodell's decision.

Instead now they are blaming the whole thing on the "coaches".

This is a CYA move and they blamed it on the coaches because the coaches have no union and can't fight back.

I for one wouldn't blame Sean Payton if he didn't sign with the Saints again because he will be forever associated with this manufactured scam.

All I want for Christmas is Sean Payton to be the head coach of the Dallas cowboys.

Not that Garrett hasn't done a decent job despite the injuries

But Sean Payton is a gamechanger for Dallas

I want Payton, but I don't understand how this ruling might mean Payton leaves. I think if he leaves New Orleans, it will be for different reasons, since I'm sure he likes the current owner and Drew Brees.

Because they put all the blame on the coaches. It's all bs anyway.

Speculation is that the only way SP can get away from this cloud is to leave town.

He will probably want a fresh start.

He didn't say there wasn't enough evidence. He actually agreed with the evidence but just put on mgt more than the players. Said the evidence was tainted cause of mgt cover up. I stated that there was a bounty system but blamed the coaches not the players

I don't think it changes anything. It's not like he isn't still wanted there.

And just why in the world would Payton want to coach the Cowboys? Jerry would still be the GM & owner with all the power. Payton would have to negotiate a contract with Jerry which would give him all the power including naming his own GM to run the club. No other way should Payton even consider being associated with the Cowboys.

Or Payton could easily see it as the perfect opportunity to repair his tarnished image and repay the team. Which is exactly what he will do.

This is just as speculative as the wishes of Cowboy fans wanting Payton to come to Dallas.

Nobody really knows whats going to happen.

Bingo.

Chances are that fans and management think it's all a bunch of bs anyway and he has nothing to be ashamed of or live down.

He's not going anywhere.

Because we're the Cowboys. It's really that simple.

Why would Bill Parcells come out of retirement to coach a 5-11 team?

Put yourself in Sean Payton's shoes for a minute, he can return to New Orleans with all this bounty gate stuff and the media hounding him all the time or he can go and coach America's Team. Yeah, I'd choose that option too. :D

I don't think Payton will wind up in Dallas, but I don't understand why he and the Saints haven't agreed to a new contract.

I know the league didn't like some language in the previous one, but I just think if Payton was truly committed, then they would have knocked this out and ended all speculation.

Hey, maybe it is just me, but if my kids live in Dallas and I have the opportunity to be close to my them year round while receiving a pay raise from my old contract to coach a QB that I like so much that I tried to trade for him, I would at least hear the sales pitch.
