He had a special season. He isn't special. There is a difference.

The fact you didn't think he was special coming into the season should say something.

Our offensive line is special.

Do you really want to pay 7M for Murray when the pats are paying guys like Blount 700k?

Who cares how much Blount makes???? He's had a good month or two in the NFL

Martin makes 800k and TFred makes 1m should other teams not pay for OG/Cs????

TWill and Beasley combined for 15TDs and cost 1m combined, I guess we should let Dez walk

Murray did what he has done for 4 years, he just got more carries this year

The problem is that the Vikings could wait until deep into the off-season to make a decision to cut him. Even with his currently scheduled salary on the books, they have 20M in cap space.

The Cowboys need a plan if they are not going to sign Murray.

The Vikings could wait until the final cut in late August if they wanted to. There is zero need for them to do anything before then if they don't want to. The Cowboys do need a plan because waiting for AP to fall in their laps is simply irresponsible.

Minnesota could hold on out of spite but then they'd

The Vikings could wait, but wouldn't that mean they'd also not be able to use the $13 million during free agency? I'm not sure when your books have to be square.

I want to get AD. If he's not here by the draft, get someone then.

Good point. They also would be on the hook for his whole salary if he gets hurt in any practices or camp.

Spite seems like a bad reason to keep someone. If they are going to dump him they will do it soon after the League rules on his reinstatement which is scheduled for April 15th.

Love to see him here from a football standpoint. He's monumentally better than Murray.

Don't give up one single thing for Peterson.

If Dallas wants him then you wait for him to be cut first. If he gets traded somewhere else, that's fine. If he doesn't get cut and stays in Minny, that's fine too.

If he is a free agent then make a reasonable offer and hope that coming home to Dallas where there are no state taxes and playing for his favorite team will make up the difference. If he signs with someone for more money, well, that's fine too.

I'd rather just draft a good back somewhere in the first 3 rounds and hand it to him instead of paying a lot to a RB approaching 30 and have to deal with all of the media scrutiny that will come with signing Peterson and his off field concerns.

Besides, if Gurley or Gordon is there at 27 and is the BPA by a mile, I want to be able to pull the trigger. Instead of spending big dollars at the RB position with Peterson, spend that money on the DL in free agency and draft a great RB early.

Sure, they could conceivably do that. And then have that $13 million back on their books just in time to sign..............................nobody.

Because all of the free agents worth anything will have long before decided where - other than Minnesota - they were going.

No trade, if we get a good deal through FA, then fine.

All this fuss over nothing?: http://www.***BANNED-URL***/sports/...ian-peterson-not-seeking-trade-to-cowboys.ece

Report: Adrian Peterson not seeking trade to Cowboys

Sources told Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that reports are inaccurate that running back and Texas native is seeking a trade to the Dallas Cowboys.

Sources also said Peterson hasn't asked for a trade. One source said he remains willing to return to Minnesota even though he was disappointed with some reaction within the Vikings and in the community after he was indicted last September on a child-abuse charge. That source said a comment then by Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton that Peterson is a "public embarrassment" really hurt the running back.

Sources close to Peterson said nobody on the Vikings has approached the suspended running back or any of his representatives about possibly having to take a pay cut next season from the $12.75 million he is due.

The Minnesota Vikings have let it be known that they want star running back Adrian Peterson back in purple and gold next season.

But is the feeling mutual?

In a report by ESPN's Ben Goessling, Peterson says he is "still uneasy" about returning to the Vikings in 2015. Peterson said he felt "ambushed" by the Vikings having worked with the NFL to put him on the commissioner's exempt list last September.

The NFL Players Association has sued the league on behalf of Peterson. But without a ruling in his favor, Peterson, 29, can't be reinstated from suspension until April 15.

He has been complying with the NFL's requirements for reinstatement and still has to meet the requirements of his probation in Texas, as well as a child protective services order in Minnesota, after pleading no contest to reckless injury to a child Nov. 4.

Peterson said he plans to play somewhere in 2015.

The Cowboys, who are hoping to re-sign star running back DeMarco Murray, were mentioned in August, 2014, in a report as a team that Peterson would like to play for. Peterson later reiterated his loyalty to the Vikings.

Here's more of what Peterson had to say to Goessling:

"It's hard to say (what my future will be)," Peterson said. "I love Minnesota. There are people that have had my back, and supported me. Last year, with the things that took place, had a lot of fans that supported me through everything. I'm still uneasy, to be honest with you. I'm still uneasy about a lot of things that took place within the organization. Of course those guys ultimately supported me, and I'm grateful for that. But ultimately, with me being able to be on the inside and see how cards were dealt, how things were worded, this, that and the other, it's about protecting your brand, your organization, what you have built. In the (grand) scheme of things, not one person counts over that. I get that."

It isn't but this team had a top 5 rushing attack and yet Dez still got bracketed out of games, TWill still disappeared for 4 games, and Witten is now an OK lineman with good hands and route running ability. Not for or against AP coming here but even with an 1800 yard RB last year the team still was the number 3 seed.

Great points. I do wonder though if what makes Adrian Peterson different is his big play threat. I personally love Murray as a person. But with Murray the defensive players and coordinator don't really have to worry about him breaking an 80 yard run anytime he touched the ball. With Murray you felt each time he was handed the ball that he would run for 4 or 5 yards. Something about the explosive nature of how Peterson runs could scare a defense enough that they have to play different than they did against Murray.

Hey having to Choose between Murray and AP is a good problem to have.

Our offensive line is special. Romo is special. Murray is good.

So why didn't Romo have an EXTRA special season behind this special OL. Murray is good but OL makes his last season special. Romo is special but his last season is only special?? Shouldn't Romo have been elevated to SB type season? Romo has achieved a playoff win without a special OL in the past.

IF Murray was special there would be no question about him coming back. The fact that there is a BIG question as to whether he will or not says everything one needs to know.
