If we are to win it all. I would rather do it with "hone grown"... Whether Murray or drafted running back.

The other possibility is that the Vikings leaked this because they think they can trade him. The statements the Vikings have made make me think that they think they can trade him or want to keep him but at a reduced salary. If they were just going to keep him at his current salary, they would just say the he will be with them in 2015. Instead, they say that they would like to have him back.

That's certainly possible. Peterson's agent no doubt has a sense of what teams will pay once he is cut (exactly like DeMarcus Ware did when he signed a few hours after being cut by the Cowboys). The Vikings have to know that as well and may think that if the money offers are similar among several teams, they could get a draft pick from one of those teams rather than cutting him. The trade would be "contingent on a new contract", which everyone would be shocked, shocked to find in place quickly.

I think it will be very similar to the Ware situation where nobody was going to trade for Ware, but they were ready to sign him immediately.

I would take it, depending on price of course. I think my favorite scenario for next year would be Murray and a #2/#3 draft pick but you have to think about Peterson as well. I'm still not really past the child abuse issue though, I'm not really hoping that Peterson is the starting RB next year.

The problem is that the Vikings could wait until deep into the off-season to make a decision to cut him. Even with his currently scheduled salary on the books, they have 20M in cap space.

The Cowboys need a plan if they are not going to sign Murray.

Peterson hasn't even been re-instated yet. That is scheduled for April 15th. Peterson has an appeal outstanding that could be ruled on any day, but a lot things need to happen before any Cowboy fan should be looking at Peterson as an answer.

Don't sign Murray.

Draft a guy if need be.

You don't pay a non-special RB. That's whether you get Adrian or not.

Yes, that's probably what I would do.

I think Ryan Williams and Randle plus a draft pick can handle it. It's fairly safe to assume that you can get a RB in this draft; although, I think they have to have some faith in either or both of Williams and Randle to go without signing a free agent RB.

Robert Steeples has litte chance of making the team but he should make a pretty penny when Adrian wants to buy #28 from him.

@sportingnews: Adrian Peterson has requested a trade to the Cowboys. How bout that? http://t.co/8T7Ki68rqe http://t.co/pKQCWuP3X3

Give them Joseph Randle and renegotiate Peterson's contract we're he gets his $14 million guaranteed as bonus money and a $1 million base salary this year to equal what he would have gotten paid. If we prorate the signing bonus out over four years, then we'd actually pay him less than $4 million for this season. Of course, his base salary would probably escalate next year or his agent would want a roster bonus included that would force a renegotiation or Dallas to cut him.

1,800 yards is non special. lol.

He had a special season. He isn't special. There is a difference.

The fact you didn't think he was special coming into the season should say something.

Our offensive line is special.

Do you really want to pay 7M for Murray when the pats are paying guys like Blount 700k?

Ok. The OL had a special season, they aren't special. Romo had a special season, he isn't special. There is a difference.
