24 or so hours out and stories like this are going to come fast and furious with 99% likely not true. LOL.

My ideal scenario would be to see a guy like Lynch fall into the 20s and then we go and grab him.

Not necessarily. The day before was when we heard about the Claiborne trade, interest in Ware

Along with about 100 other rumors. People always remember the ones that pan out but the hundreds that turn out false.

If they do this, I'm betting one of them is for a QB so that they can have a 5th year option on him. Someone like Lynch, maybe even Cook if its the very end of round 1.

No offense, but there is nothing ideal about that scenario. We give up a bunch of later picks (despite knowing that this draft is deep with defensive linemen) to get a QB who is not even close to being ready to start in this league and likely won't be until his rookie contract is about to expire? So now we got a bench-riding QB and no picks to bolster the weakest part of the team. Sweet.

I said in another thread that if they took Elliott at 4, I would be indifferent.

But if they traded UP to get Cook, I think I would have to start drinking heavily. Like I might have to take off the next week of work type drinking.

Or we give up a high pick next year, to get the QB of the future a year early and locked into a 5 year rookie deal. That saves us the rest of the draft for defense and gets us a potential franchise QB in waiting at a relatively low cost. Since he's a guy who needs a couple years to develop, no matter what, there's no downside for Romo and no pressure to start him anytime in the near future.

I think you overestimate how much it would cost to move up from 34 to say 25.

Frankly, I think Lynch is gone in the teens. But if slides into the 20s and the Cowboys think he's a future franchise guy and you are surprised he's slipped............. then you better go get him.
