Regardless of Tony's injury and time out, his career is not over. He's not going to retire.

1. No human being is going to walk away from the money Dallas owes him when his injury is not a threat to his long term health.

2. Dallas is not walking away from Tony; they can't, not even if they wanted to, and there's no way to recapture his cap hit.

Tony Romo will be a Cowboy for at least two more years. Even if Dak is NFL MVP (lol), Tony won't retire, and we can't cut him. He will either start or be the veteran backup to Dak or someone else. He's not going to walk away from some of the biggest pay days of his career

Maybe the team can't "walk away" from him financially, but they can do it by way of planning.

And instead of this "4-5 years" nonsense, do everything you can to get all of your eggs out of the Romo basket and better prepare yourself for the day the divorce does come.

SO the play is:

Poster1: That hit is likely going to impact Romo tomorrow. May miss time
Poster2: You aren't a doctor. keep your opinions to yourself. He said he was fine.

News:Romo Broke his Back

Poster1: Seems to be more inline with my first take
Poster2: You should be ashamed of gloating at Romos injury.

Helluva leap, but an interesting position to eschew reality and always shift to the "moral high ground"

This is like watching someone get hammered the night before a final exam, stating that his/her test may not get a great grade, have the person say they think they did fine, then gets an F and somehow the opinion guy is the enemy.
People have to understand something. The organization lies to us, especially when it comes to injuries.

Can't remember ever feeling this deflated and discouraged over something regarding sports. Such terrible news. Prayers go out to Romo and his family.

Well said. I totally agree. Is this the time when I give up watching the Cowboys? I mean what's the use? Maybe that idiot On ESPN is right, "The Cowboys are a train wreck waiting to happen". Hell no!!!

If any rookie QB ever had a better situation to come into I can't find it, possibly Wilson, but he didn't have a stud WR.

Our Oline, 2 awesome backs, HOF TE, and Dez. I think he will be fine if the JG and Linny don't screw it up!
Wilson also had an awesome defense to cover up for his rookie mistakes. DAK doesn't have that caliber of defense to rely on.

Tony still has 19.6m in Dead Money after this year.....if he does retire it will have to finessed to minimize the salary cap impact......if he waits until next June it would be the same as June 1st cut and split the cap hit into 10.7m dead in 2017 and 8.9m dead in 2018.....that would be workable and actually save a ton off his projected hits if he stayed

This is something I posted yesterday....at the time I did not know Romo was going to miss a lot of time. I will preface this by saying I am middle aged man that has been a die hard Cowboys fan since the 70s. But I watch a lot of football. And I figured out a long time ago that this is not run like a REAL FOOTBALL operation. Lastly...been a staunch supporter and defender of Romo for a long time. Wish him well.

Once again....too many of you all have not been paying attention. Jerry has cultivated an environment where star power/relationships has taken priority over winning(just re-visit him bemoaning passing over Johnny Manziel). Has he done this purposely? No. He really believed 500 coaches could coach this team. He really believed that he would become a GM that could have a Super Bowl contending team on a consistent basis. Once he realized these things were not as easy as Jimmy made them look. He made business moves to ensure that at the very least this organization was highly profitable. No surprise there. He is one of the best when it comes to making money

What does this have to do with Romo you ask? Romo has starpower. AND....AND...Jerry is very comfortable with Romo. I am pretty sure Romo makes Jerry feel a lot better about himself than Troy EVER did. Jerry is also comfortable with Garrett. And we know Garrett makes Jerry feel better about himself than Jimmy EVER did. Jerry is also very comfortable with Witten. No matter how many 2nd round picks we have used on TEs...not one....not one..was able to get Witten's snaps reduced. Were they as good as Witten? No. Should we have gotten more out of our investment of a 2nd round pick? Yes. Would those players been more productive had they been drafted by some other team? Yes. Have those players gone elsewhere and proven that they at least deserved a bigger opportunity than they got in Dallas. Yes.

What I am trying to say is...because of the culture in Dallas....certain people have been afforded the run of this place. Romo will decide when Romo is finished. No...that does not mean that he will play another 10 years....but he will not be benched by this outfit anytime soon. Just like Wittens snaps have not been reduced. Just like Garrett is not on the hot seat this year like so many people think he is. I would bet this front office is waiting for the glass slipper to fall off from Dak. Heck...you want more proof that they don't really want anybody here to threaten Romo? They were prepared to roll with Kellen Moore this year as the backup. Dak has looked better than Kellen Moore will ever look. And ironically, if Moore does not get hurt....we would have never seen Dak.

Might be too much for some of you all to swallow. But all I am saying is.....pay attention.

And for the record...I have been as big a Romo defender here on this board...and in private circles amongst other NFL fans.

With these injuries, its always the next day when the pain and real issue flares up. The silence was deafening

It sorta depends. If we're still in contention, but its a 4-4 kind of contention, and Dak has been okay, I'd want Romo back in if he's got the medical okay. If we're 6-2 and Dak has been really good, then I can see the argument to stick with him.

If we're 4-4, I'm not calling that "contention". These clowns tried that last year and wasted an entire season and accomplished nothing other than devaluing their draft pick.

If the team is 4-4 with the quarterback of the future? The future is now. Play Prescott.

Problem is if Dak does well they may still pull him.
