They will obviously rework his deal.
If I'm not mistaken, the receiving team would only be on the hook for $14M this coming year. That's not a lot for a good starting QB and there would be plenty of time to work a new deal for any outlying years...or they could simply cut him after 2017 with no cap hit.

This has houston making a move written all over it.

That's all they need. Anybody that watched that playoff game knew that. RB, Hopkins, the new Fuller kid, a good TE. They are ready. I would give a 1 and 2 for him if I were in that position!

Could dallas just say "you know what I think we will let Romo start next year and give him one more shot." Even if they had no intention on doing so, and wouldn't that sway negotiations? On denver or any team that shows intrest? I'd say so, Romo despite what anybody says is good enough to win it all if given an opportunity. That in it self is warrent for taking a "risk ", if you can even call a QB of Tony's caliber a "risk". I mean it's laughable the thing's they say on ESPN and it's even more laughable people eat it up..add NFL network to that also.

I could be wrong, but I think 14 is only his base. The cap hit is like 25 mil or something. Please someone correct me if I'm off base.

The signing bonus is the responsibility of the team that he signed with (us). The base salary is the responsibility of the team he's playing for. And the same is true for the cap hit.

You really think Jerry cares about forum dorks like us? Come on now.
You're right, not about us. But he does care about PR. And he does not want to look weak or stupid. So he tries a last ditch stunt to cover up for all his "do right" comments that telegraphed to everyone that he was cutting Romo.
