Here’s my not so bold prediction
ESPN’s bold prediction is WRONG as usual
I don’t say that in defense of Dez but rather the fact that ESPN is more often wrong than right

If Dez does not take a pay cut, he will be released................how the hell is this a bold prediction? Any team would do the same thing.

How many teams pay $16.5 million for a WR that has gone 23 consecutive games with breaking a hundy?

And folks think this is a bold prediction................wow...............Dez either takes a pay cut or he is released, no way he plays under the current deal.

You know..

I can never remember any player we released ever..

who actually got better after leaving us.

Bennett had a couple of good seasons..

but teams moved him on quickly.

Calvin Hill played well for the Commanders once he left.

But thats decades ago.

So if DEZ wants to move on..

go fot it and good luck brother.

Other teams are not going to put up with dropped passes, fading on gameday or screaming on the sidelines.
There is a gang of players, that left and played better after they left.

Dez run as far as you can from DAK and Jason G!!!!! They have already cost you a pay cut and will cost you your job and maybe your career the way Dak throws them high ones (DB Road Kill) and who knows you might get yourself a ring one day cause here in Dallas will get worse before it gets better.

I 100% fully support giving Dez one more year to put it together with Dak.

I hate how fast people turned on him. The dude has ability and can help our team.
This is like mlb front offices used to be. Just looking at the numbers on a players card instead of coming to the realization about who the player is today. Dez is no longer the guy you remember. He can still play but he is not a $15 million dollar a year elite receiver. It has nothing to do with people turning on him. Fake drama

The only reason he might be around is because they have no other option.

Average length of an NFL career is what? 3 years?

That’s how long he’s been trying to put it together.

Nice parallel.

Take the drama and emotion out, and you have a mediocre player getting elite player dollars. Sorry.

Misleading. They are counting in the guys who only last a year, sometimes less, because they're not good enough to make it.

The average career of a good NFL player is prolly about 6-8 years.

love Dez, but hate his salary...if he doesn't want the pay cut (and he has already said that), then he gets dumped along with Williams, Beasley and Butler...go hire two from FA and draft two more to get your totals back to 6 WRs...

Landry (Mia), Watkins (LAR), then draft Kirk (from Texas A&M) in the 2nd round and another one with a comp pick, maybe St Brown (from ND)....we already have Swizter as our slot guy and Noah Brown is the last guy

how's that for "bold"?

Exactly...............why are posters saying that people are "hating" on Dez?

I simply look at his salary ($16.5 million) and his production (23 consecutive games under a hundy) and make a business decision.

Is this player's on the field production commensurate with his salary level?

Any unbiased person would say no, his production is not matching his contract. So the player either takes a pay cut to a more reasonable salary given his on the field production or he is released since those allocated resources can go to other areas of the team.

We could put together a better receiving corps in this free agency than what we have right now. Granted Dez would be the top WR FA if he were let go but this offense wouldn't miss him all that much unless Dak gets either dramatically better, or he learns to tune Dez out when he starts chirping in his ear about getting him the ball.

Seriously though if we somehow could guarantee that we sign Jarvis Landry, Sammy Watkins, Eric Decker, and Paul Richardson I'd be OK with losing our entire receiving unit with the exception of Noah Brown and drafting a guy in round 2.
I'm not quite as radical as you but in principle I am with the concept that we could shake things up & be better off. I don't think Watkins fits nor could we afford he & Landry. Decker disappointed last year, so not sure there. There are quite a few other FA's you could mix with Landry & have a good group though.

Dez’s chances of being back with the team are 50-50 at best. Stephen’s comments about the chemistry issues between Dez and Dak and the distractions Dez creates due to his emotions don’t bode well for him. The draft and free agency will determine if he’s back. If we take a WR in the first round Dez is gone. Even a WR in the second round could spell the end in Dallas for him.
