Oh, that's interesting. I never saw the movie... I don't think I'd ever seen the show either.

It was the first big game show and contestants would double their winnings or lose it all by advancing and answering the questions up to the grand prize at that time, 64K. And at that time 64K was a lot of money.

It was the first actual situation of a network trying to manipulate the ratings and it worked, everyone was watching the show. But then they got nailed for the set up. Pretty big scandal back then and served as the story line for the film that won quite a few awards. Redford directed it.

I already said it was interesting. Back off!!! :laugh:

I'm guessing shows are pretty careful about stuff like that now, though I swear, some of the Jeopardy contestants must have some idea of what subjects to study!
