It's not your money, why are you all so worried to spend it?

I think it's so funny/odd that so many posters are worried about the Cowboys spending money!

I see post after post about "only if he's cheap", "can't pay Zeke", "is Dak worth it?", "don't extend Dak.", "franchise Tank", and a million more.

I get that missing on a guy or two can put us in a negative cap situation. But the NFL is beautiful in that regard.

Most contracts aren't paid out and can be massaged to fit the year.

If you can trust anything in from this front office... trust two things:
They are going to pay guys.
They are going to rework guys

And something we might soon be able to trust:
They know what they're doing.

Sure it's "not your money". But that completely misses the point.

It's about the long term viability of the team and it's ability to compete within a salary cap structure.

That's what the discussions are about. Not who's money it is.

I don't care about the millions Jerry spends.

I care about how those millions are allotted since the NFL operates in a system where money spent to build a team isn't unlimited.

There is zero common sense here.

He's saying people are upset that Jerry is spending millions on players. No one is upset about that.

What they have issues with is HOW THE MILLIONS ARE SPENT IN A CAPPED LEAGUE. In other words, I doubt anyone cares if Jerry Jones spends $20MM of his money on a player. However, they care if that $20MM is spent on a punter.

Because everyone here is a GM. That's what we do, figure out the money, evaluate the talent and fire the HC hourly. If we are not going to worry about the money and criticize the contracts, what are we to do? We can't second guess the coaching because they're not playing.

It's the off season and approaching contracts and free agency, the time when we turn our talents to managing the cap and talent evaluations and we've got some assigned to the Combine for the arrow up or down part of our draft evaluation.

I don't know about these guys but I am incensed that I would be challenged not to consider the money when evaluating the talent. How irresponsible do you think I am?

Besides, the OP is doing exactly what he's saying we shouldn't do, he's discussing how spending money impacts our cap. He's just taking the view point that contracts are so flexible that it doesn't really matter and everyone should be resigned. I dont entirely disagree.

23 years of not reaching a conference championship game suggest there are reasons to question this front office.
