Romo was given the worst contract in the history of this franchise.
Might want to look at Deion Sanders contract. That one killed cap space for a few years after he left. Romo's only hit us for 1 year after he retired, if I'm not mistaken....

We are all aware of that backside pressure. The QB can't see the blindside rusher coming off the edge and then, boom, big hit, sack, maybe a fumble. The thing about Tank is he is right in the QB's view side. YOU SEE HIM COMING. Quinn and hopefully Gregory are going to clean up this year. If we can add a true interior pressure player and a safety who can cover ground, we are going to be a problem for offenses. Maybe Maliek Collins in his contract year, a rejuvenated Tyrone Crawford, the moving-Kerry Hyder- to-DT project, or the 58th pick will be that interior pass rusher.

I don't really hold out much hope for Collins or Crawford suddenly becoming more than they've been. I'm intrigued by Hyder, though. He got eight sacks as a part-timer for Detroit in 2016 before a torn Achilles essentially messed up his 2017 and 2018 seasons. He's fairly thick for his height and moves well (at least he did before the injury). I don't want to gamble that he's the answer, but I think if he's healthy, he could be a key contributor in the 3-tech rotation.

Front office had absolutely no understanding of the salary cap back then.

Double digit sacks in contract years and we've seen this story play out before. Last year 5 of his 10.5 sacks came against 2 teams - The Lions and the Giants. Of the playoff bound teams we played last year - Philly, Saints, Indy and Seattle he had a whopping .5 sack against the Seahawks and did virtually nothing in the playoffs.

We are going to regret this big time.

Aaron Donald racked up 14.5 sacks just between the three teams in his weak division, and proceeded to do nothing in the playoffs.

Khalil Mack got 5.5 of his sacks against the packers and lions and proceeded to nothing in the playoffs.

This is a fantastic deal!!!!

Its actually a very fair deal for both the team and the player. For the team, the guaranteed money is all paid in the first three seasons while Tank is still in his 20s. After the third year, if his play starts to decline, the team can bail on the deal without any significant cap implications. For the player, the deal pays him what the going market rate is for a player of his caliber and he gets almost $50 million in the first two years of the deal, so that takes care of his concerns over financial security for him and his family.

Both sides, the player and the team, can walk away from this deal claiming victory.

AAV is like the last thing agents care about. It's gtd,l at signing, practical guaranteed and 3 year haul that is important.

It's why Dlaw could demand 20 AAV and Cowboys come back with 22 AAV and the talks be characterized as "far apart."

Just learn from this.

I agree with this. What's the point of going through a contract dispute if you're going to kick yourself in the nuts and let all your demands be met in final 2 years of the contract?

The only reservation I have is that we may have paid Prime for USDA.

Now that it is done, I look forward to seeing how we work the rotation, hopefully with a young edge to help.

You mean It's time for Taco to contribute...

Here is the deal...Taco's time is @ LDE. But he is gonna split time w/ D-Law. Not a problem.

Split being...D-Law 65%
Taco 35%

Question is this.....

Can Taco produce w/ this little time? When he gets on the field..he's gotta do something...other than just take up snaps. He's gotta make splash plays...that make a difference.;)

If we did this for every 3rd and 5+ Dak throw he could possibly be the worst qb ever to play the game.

Whether or not this contract is "good" for the Cowboys only time will tell. I am still against the use of Tank using his injury as leverage to make the deal though. Hopefully, he can wash that taste away with his performances in a Cowboys jersey. Go Cowboys!
