Is Dak the best Cowboys draft pick in the last 20 years?

You know, romo technically doesn’t qualify since he was actually not drafted but, he was definitely the best “pick” up in the last 20 years. Had we drafted him in the last round, he would be the answer no question.

Not sure what there was ever to like about him. Worst QB I have ever seen. Quincy "the bong" Carter. Sucked as a QB and was another one of those dopes that thought smoking pot was more important than playing for the Cowboys.

21 picks. And we were 10-6 because we had the #1 D in the NFL.

Hey, I have no problem w/ anyone rooting for any Cowboys player!!!!! But, he was a terrible draft pick and was not a good QB.

I respect Eagles fans in ONE way...………….they would never allow a joke of a HC like Garrett in Philly. Would have run him out of town 2 years into his tenure here. Only in Dallas can a coach like that still have a job after 8 years.

They ran McNabb and Reid out of town even after those two got Philly to four NFC Championship games and to s Super Bowl.
Poor Wentz better watch out for some snowballs come December.

Witten likely the best pick
T Fred, Sean lee, d Lawerence, d ware, Tyron smith Zach Martin and zeke were better than Dak. Dak was thrown into the best position a qb could wish for. Deshaun Watson would be beastly right now in Dallas

Why separate the two? Given a group of equally-deserving players best value would have to win, wouldn't it?

Disagree, only because it was Quincy getting cut that allowed Romo to make the roster in 2004.

Quincy, Testaverde and Drew Henson (who we had just traded a 3rd round pick for) would’ve been locks and Romo would’ve been the odd man out.

That’s arguable. Especially with the likes of Hogeboom and Pueller. Both starters worse.

Quincy after all started on a playoff team which was carried by a top defense. And if not for his drug issues might have bridged us until Romo came along in 2006 spurring us to playoffs again which were only 2 playoff appearances in Parcells tenure.

Not sure where the 8 years is coming from either?

I’ve always argued Parcells biggest mistake was not drafting another QB trying to patch the position with some of his old veterans past their prime neither able to lead us back to the playoffs which if not for Romo sparking us back to the playoffs Jerry might have had to finally look back to the top of the draft for our next franchise QB.

Which is similar to our current situation in that during a transitional period for us at QB, Dak has sparked us to the playoffs which has thwarted another effort to look at the top of the draft for our next franchise QB.

That would be an excellent argument.

Drew Pearson and Cliff Harris both Undrafted free agents in Ring of Honor would be the best rebuttals.

But Im assuming this quote from Gil was while Romo was active which was probably true and wasn’t stating “ top “ in Cowboys history.
