I say no.
he might end up suspended which could effect things at the end of this coming season...but I don't think he gets cut.
Taco on the other hand....could have a hard time making the 53 if he doesn't get on his horse....and off his......

With the additions of the new dline players through the draft and his recent off the field incident, this would be a good time of releasing him.

Releasing him as a post June 1st cut would create 7 million in cap savings and only account for 3 million in dead money.

It would also clear 10 million in cap space in 2020.

I'm all for releasing him as a post June 1st cut.

Are you just trying to be cute? What purpose would this serve, and how smart would this be? While your at gonahead add some other low cost vet leaders we have to your save money list ...

Jesus, how did you come up with this nugget?? Right now, Crawford is the 2nd best DL, and the coaches love his work.

And you can make a post June 1 release at any time. The fact he's still here kinda kills you inside thought that apparently appeared to your hands.

To be fair to the OP, TCrawfords salary is high and he is UFA after 2020.

He is likely gone after 2020.

The thinking is make the move now with the younger players they have and save the $$$ to extend Jones and Zeke, players that have a future with the team.

La'el is more tradeable than Crawford.

Plus this is a contract year for Collins, so I expect a good year from him then cashing in on free agency that should result in a 3rd round comp pick. Or a 4th at the very least.
If there is an OT poor team that gets killed with injuries, maybe. Trade value is an alien thing to this franchise who rarely is able or willing to explore those opportunities.

And our fanbase doesn't respect our own players

TCrawford and LCollins are really good players.... they aren't stars but they are more than adequate and their is no reason to run them out of town

Getting rid of them doesn't make us better..... it creates a huge hole no matter what the haters say

We are trying to win a Super Bowl not collect picks and cap space

I agree and that is why I am fine with them drafting McGovern and DTs. You eventually will need to move on either due to escalating salary demands or pay or age. McGovern can replace Williams as LG so Williams can replace Collins who will be seeking frontline RT money. TCraw is getting older and if you can draft his replacement for next year I am not opposed to letting him go. Smart teams are always looking to churn "average" starters

If everyone steps up and plays the roles expected of them, I'd have no problem cutting (or trading) Crawford near the end of camp.

However, since we don't know if everyone is going to step up and play the roles expected of them, I think it would be hasty to cut anyone before we see what we have. Hopefully, everyone plays great and we'll be able to trade some of the DL depth.

Did we sign Suh or something. Who is going to swing DT/DE? He is only in his 7th year and we can Cut only if Crawford is going to do like Lee. But DT that average 4-5.5 sacks a year do not grow on trees.

It's not going to happen.

He's insurance at the 3T if Hill struggles to develop. If you cut him post June 1, your 3T has one proven player - Collins. And he's an injury risk and not exactly a dominant 3T himself. Then you have Hill, who you hope can step in immediately and play well and maybe a guy like Hyder play some 3T or I guess even think about playing Covington some there as well.

DLaw/Hill/Collins/Quinn are the starters not Crawford. Replacing mediocre vets with young cheaper talent when you have to pay several vets, in a league with a real salary cap is exactly how you should do business.
This might be your nickel group, but Crawford is definitely on the field as a "starter."

Who starts also doesn't really matter to Marinelli, because he rotates. Crawford will play as many snaps - probably more - than anyone on the DL other than DLaw, because he has position flex.
