And here we go.....

This story seems really mealy-mouthed, but it's out there. My gut though is that it's true.

Zeke sees the writing on the wall. The Cowboys are about to run his wheels off this season, and he wants to get paid now before they "Demarco Murray" him out of here.

The Cowboys are probably fine with this for now because they barely have him do anything in camp anyway, and frankly, most of us thought he was going to get a game or two suspension.

Unless he agrees to something reasonable - like 4 years for $50 mm with $30 mm guaranteed - I think the Cowboys will stand pat. It's risky to pay big money to guys that are untrustworthy off the field, especially at the running back position.

Florio started this whole thing without any legit sources. He’s been pushing this Zeke narrative since around March. I believe he’s now written 6 articles about Zeke. If he leaves the country today it could be nothing more than for his bday which is today. I feel like Florio is trying to stay relevant during the down time. Who is gonna get more traffic to the website? Gordon or Zeke?

When was the last time a player held out after being in the league for 3 years? I am too lazy to go look for that info.

We live in an era where it pays to be skeptical with the news. If this is true it is a disgrace. That team has stood by this guy. He basically ruined the season 2 years ago. I understand that the league is probably most unfair to RBs. Statistics show that they wear out shortly after the rookie contract. It is not fair but those are the rules of the road. This is a good team that can do something special this year and, if true, this idiot is going to create drama and distraction. They have him under contract for 2 more years. 2!. If this is true I give the guy a short, short leash. Not worth the hassle.

This is all just piggy-backing off of Florio's report. No one else has any info on this. Florio isn't exactly the most trustworthy source.

And we didn't "run Murray into the ground and then ditch him". We offered him another contract, he just took more money from Philly and left.

I mean, let him if he wants, if true of course.

He can skip camp, get fined but he'll still have to show for the regular season since he's only accrued 3 years of service.

Can quickly get up to speed in the offense.

I don't put any stock in these stories about Zeke (it's a year too early anyway), but we most certainly did run Murray into the ground and then ditch him. Dallas offered him a contract they knew he wouldn't take, just so they could have some plausible deniability. It was really transparent, but I guess it worked on some people.

Huh? Stood by the guy? He's on a rookie contract and arguably the best RB in the league. You think they were going to cut him? Lmao.

Also, he didn't ruin anything. Not one single thing was proven in any capacity yet he still gets 6 games and you have guys actually arrested who get none. That was a witch hunt from Goodell. Quit acting like Dallas actually did him some type of favor.

I'm pretty certain I read that since he's still on his rookie contract, he has to report by 6 August in order to be able to accrue a season. If so, he can't skip camp (only a little portion of it).

I had to see more about your response, and clicked the show ignored content button. Then read why. And reconfirmed why I have that person on ignore. :muttley:

Right, so he misses what will be basically conditioning drills the 1st week. then returns, and he would not get any snaps in the 1st PS game.
It will not be any different than DLaw, Frederick and Byron Jones starting on PUP while they recover from surgery.

He misses 7 fluff practices and the blue / white scrimmage which is a glorified practice. That is according to the practice schedule I looked at.

Guy has 2 years left on his contract....have fun holding out buddy, if you don’t like the way rookie contracts are structured then talk to your player rep and have them negotiate a better cba!

Frankly I don’t care about a Whiney immature millionaire that doesn’t want to adhere to the contract that he signed. I know we would struggle without him but frankly I’m just getting so sick of this part of the modern nfl. I am 37 and it keeps getting worse, between that and the penalties and changes to contact the game is really starting to lose its luster...

Zeke's trying to get bank before his next offseason incident leads to a suspension, he knows he was lucky to get away with it this year.

(I don't actually believe this report for the record)
