We better be a top 5 offense this year

I think it’s Super Bowl or bust. The players on the current roster or selling the Fanbase that they are the best. Best equals Super Bowl. There is no margin for error, we can’t blame it on the fans, we can’t blame it on the owner, we can’t blame it on Coaches.

It is squarely on the shoulders of the players. The players have to perform, no excuses. I have given the players a pass for the Past decade. It is absolutely their fault if they don’t win the division, the playoffs, and the Super Bowl. Winners win, losers lose
I understand it is a a team game, but we have to blame somebody.
Some like to blame the owner
Some like to blame the coach
Others just blame the QB

Sometimes your team is just not good enough to win the Superbowl but somebody has to take the blame, it is just too damn hard to blame everybody.

top 5 isn't good enough

agreed, this about SBs at this point

that said, I don't want to guess what top 5 means in 2019

just common sense play calling is worth another 7/+ points a game

that's at least top 10 - when you consider Fred is back, add Pollard, Smith, Cobb, and Witten
a full off season with known targets ... yeah they got a shot at top 5 and beyond

I respect you, I respect your opinion. The players have to be held accountable. A few years ago the Packers won a Super Bowl with one of the worst coaches I’ve ever seen. No excuses.

Players have to perform on the field. The team has the best O-line in football. The team has won great receiver, and three above average receivers. The best running back in football and a good to great quarterback. No excuses on losing games. They need to do their jobs. Seems as if fans are already making excuses if we don’t win. No excuses, do your job. That should be the motto

I never said player shouldn't be held accountable. But when you play in the playoffs and the margin is soo slim it often comes down to coaching. And we have the worst HC in the NFL. He was outcoached in all 3 playoff losses and was the main reason we lost all 3.

We all know how horrid Linehan was. We do NOT have the best roster.

I really don't care about the packers. They have nothing to do with us. Give me Rogers and then maybe we can talk.

With the money that we are tying up in the top 3 offensive positions (Dak, Zeke, and Cooper) we can't go out and be a so so offense, or our talent people, (Jerry, Stephen, Will McClay, and Jason) have to be held accountable. We are investing a huge part of our salary cap in these 3 players.

Where do you think the team will finish on offense? Will they live up to their contracts? I know a good portion of that will be on Moore will he get the most out of them?

I know there is no 100% answer but I'm curious as to people's gut feel. We can look back at the end of the year and see if we were right.

I think the offense will excel against the Giants and other lowly teams but struggle early against good defenses. But I think midyear that they will figure it out and finish barely in the top 10 (7-10) by the end of the year. Thoughts?
Who is this "we" your speaking of? Are you footing any of the bills being paid for this team? Respectfully, I suggest you relax, Mr. FL.

Not with Dak at QB.
This was a top 5 offense from 2016-17.

% of drives ending in TD
2016-17
1 Saints 29.7%
2 Patriots 29.6%
3 Falcons 28.7%
4 Cowboys 27.1%
5 Packers 26.6%

The only thing that prevented Dallas from staying in the top 5 through 2018 was the drop in red zone TD.

Red Zone TD (NFL Rank)
2016 39 (3rd)
2017 33 (5th)
2018 23 (23rd)

TD scored from outside red zone
2016 8
2017 5
2018 8

And that drop in red zone TD was mostly due to the drop in TD by the RB in 2018.

Dallas TD by RB
2016 17
2017 12
2018 7

Dallas pass TD
2016 25
2017 22
2018 22

what if we are a top 5 offense and don't make the playoffs?

And the oline.

3 top skill players making top 5 money, and the most expensive oline in the league.

Maybe I just have to rescale for the ever increasing cap, but that seems like a lot of money for the offense.

Why can’t you say the same thing about the defense? We have the best linebackers in the NFL (Predator and Wolf Hunter) and an arguable top flight corner and we are paying Tank to be a War Daddy. If these coaches can’t coach up these guys we need to find coaches who can.

The defense has arguably as much talent as the offense.

But not nearly the dollars invested in it.

Tank is one of the highest paid players. The Predator was a high round draft pick and just got paid. Byron was a first round pick and will get paid. He won’t suddenly get better because he gets paid. Collins is going to get paid by somebody. Wolf Hunter is a mid first round pick and will get paid. This defense should be expected to produce NOW.
