Illiteracy regarding negotiating tactics obviously run in the family.

Yeah, you're so totally on point. Jerry was worth about $100m in 1989. He's worth $8.9B now. A totally illiterate negotiator with no business sense at all.

I beg to differ, at least in our conversations. I said that nobody would offer him more then that this season. I never said he could not be worth that. Nobody has offered him that to date, so far as I know.
He's not available to offer that to. But you are saying if he keeps this play up no one still will?

Pretty brilliant actually.

Translation: "We're not paying you yet. Play like that against playoff- caliber defenses, and you'll get your money. But big numbers against the worst teams in the league isn't the barometer. "

I wish we would have signed him in the offseason. When Wentz signed for $32 million/year it was obvious we were going to have to offer Dak at least $34-35 million.

Oh well. Glad he’s playing great. He’s earned a nice contract!
Dak is worth more than Wentz.

Charlotte is more of the creative, organizer type..........not so much the negotiator. She is apparently unclear on the cap ramifications of giving Dak whatever he wants.

She knows.
She sits in on the draft every year with her oldest son.

The money goes up every week. JJ is just nuts. Could have had him before wentz signed for 30-32. Now around 34. He said he is not asking for wilson money because he hasn’t won a SB and that’s SB money. But the longer he plays at this level the more he will rethink that. Put the contract in front of him. 33.5 with good signing bonus and guaranteed money. JJ wants a 7 year deal and he won’t sign it. Get 5 years if you can.

No. That's exactly the opposite of what I ever said, which is the point of the post. The contention, during the off season, was to offer him an NFL record deal before he showed that he had taken the next step. My point of view was that we should wait to see if he is really the guy, rather then go down that path and I think most fans who were opposed to paying Dak 30 to 35 were in the same boat. People said, at the time, this was the market and I disagreed. No team, at that time, would have paid him that. This was my contention then and I'd say that it was factual. Nobody did offer him that money at the time. If he proves that he has taken the next step, then I am in favor of paying the guy, which is what I said then. Basically, my opinion hasn't changed at all on the matter.

I said that in the off-season and people said no because Dak couldn’t increase his value and no team would give him even 30 million. I knew this would happen. It was the first time they took a honest approach at helping Dak....of course he was going to play better. But it’s still early. I guess he could eventually be brought back down to earth and maybe the value can go back to about 30.......

We are all continuing to laugh at the Dak trolls and their inability to see obvious talent and leadership at the QB position.

I suspect Jerry didn't become a self made multi billionaire by not understanding negotiations. At the end of the day, this is just some banter with the media and has no effect on the contract negotiation.

It wasn’t factual. That was your opinion. It’s a shame he has to play at a legendary level in order to get a deal.

As is any position on the subject, opinion. However, the longer this goes, the factual my position becomes. For the record, I never said that my position wasn't opinion. In fact, the exact opposite. Can you admit the same?

As too the idea that he has to play at a "legendary" level to get a deal, that's completely wrong. He's had a deal in front of him for several months now. He just hasn't elected to take it. A record deal, that's a different situation. Of course you should have to play at a very high level to get a deal like that. It's always been that way and it's only just recently that this has changed to a "market rate" group think situation. Dak is going to get paid by somebody at some point. What will he get paid? That will depend on how well he plays for the rest of the season. I'm guessing that he intends to hit the open market, rather then sign early with the Cowboys. I kinda think he and his agent always intended for this to be the strategy but whatever.

End of day, you think it's a "shame" to have to play at the highest level of your profession to get paid at the highest level of your profession. I think it's how it should work.

This brings up an interesting thought in my mind. Does anyone know if a player can be paid in some other capacity outside the sports franchise? For example can Mrs Jones do a business venture with Dak outside the Cowboy's organization? Would this be considered illegal by NFL? If other businesses can do sponsorship deals with the players, why cannot members of the owner's family do this? I guess if this was allowed, owners would be able to make the deal sweeter on the outside and not count much towards the cap amounts. Does anyone have any idea if things like these would work?

coming from a Zeke troll thats PRICELESS.. Wentz would be an MVP with Zeke and this line..:)) hows that..much more my buttox.. wentz isnt the issue in Philly Injuries, penalty's and drop balls..its coin flip for Dak vs Goff vs wentz..period they are different QBs but all very close in the same level . only haters cant see that say he so much better then both of them are total homers..

someone who thinks Pollard starting 16 games we wouldn't miss beat, yes troll.. what a hypocrite..
