They are top ten in penalties per game and 2nd in penalty yardage.

How are penalties not an issue?
Right, I’ve been so frustrated for years about the penalties and mistakes. Why is this team so undisciplined. It’s obvious, this talent is going to be wasted!

My bad then, the announcers said it was a new rule this year. I never saw it called before but that doesn't mean a lot.

It also seems stupid because the intent of the rule has to be stopping players from pulling an opponent away from a scrum for a fumble, which wasn't happening on that play. The Giants were just piling on a kick returner, not fighting for a loose ball.
For me it's case by case. I've seen guys ripped backward aggressively, which is dangerous in a pile. Not really with the intent of breaking up a fight. More like "get off my guy," kind of thing.
But last night rather mild, so in that case I think it's unnecessary to penalize.

The DL play has been rough at times.

Also, the DEs are NOT protecting the edge against the option, reverse, etc.

they are crashing down the line on every play.

This team showed me exactly who l thought they were last night. A middle of the road team that can beat (most times) the mediocre teams but have no business on the field with the good teams. The only thing consistent about this team is horrible coaching and being undisciplined. This team will be lucky to make the playoffs and we'd (fans) probably be better off of they didn't. No more excuses for Jerry to keep Garrett...
Perfect post!!!

The lack of being able to control themselves is selfish, but I will say the original penalty that seemed to be the catalyst was BS.

Another undercover "Fire Garrett" Thread ... Now Who'd a Thunk It? I don't care one way or another. You see, it's not my decision and it'll be what Jerry says it'll be .. until it's not. Sure glad y'all weren't around for Landry's first few seasons ..

Besides, I'll probably root for them regardless of who the coach is.

Penalties galore last night. Which is the hallmark of this team, it would seem.

Mistakes and missed assignments.

The meat of the season is coming this next week. Dallas cannot beat better teams - better in the context of teams they have played and beat - if they continue to make mental mistakes and penalties.

This is a coaching issue. The position coaches must hold their charges accountable for the gaffs and penalties made.

But this ultimately falls on one man who is responsible to ensure the coaches do their job and correct the mistakes. Looking at the top head coaches, Belichick, Reid, Harbaugh, they demand execution as close to flawless as possible. These coaches do not tolerate mental errors.

(Now there will be people posting anecdotal instances for all three of these coaches as if that is a rebuttal. I attribute that to either bias or the non-thinker.)

I am a vocal Garrett must go fan. But this thread is not meant to be another brick in the wall for that stance. It is simply the head coach needs to do his freakin' job and chew a lot of people arses and get these folks minds right about execution and penalties if this team is to withstand the coming two months, make the play-offs, and actually show the league Dallas is more than a one and done franchise.

But then one might make the point that a real GM would be giving a euphemistic colonoscopy to his head coach for being 9 games into the season and it appears to be getting worse instead of better.

I have a theory, right or wrong, that if Jerry really likes you, he becomes too close to hold your feet to the fire. But that may be off base.

Garrett has had a top 5 QB in Romo for many years
Dak has played like a top 10 qb (based on his numbers)
Except for DL and safety, most of our position groups gave a lot of talent that most NFL teams would be happy to switch with us (think OL, RB, LB, WR, CB, and on)

despite these, there are reasons why Garrett has only won 2 playoff games in 9 years

Lack of discipline
Lack of accountability
Lack of innovation
Lack of aggressiveness

this guy is trash and we are not winning a SB as long as he is here
