Penalties galore last night. Which is the hallmark of this team, it would seem.
Mistakes and missed assignments.
The meat of the season is coming this next week. Dallas cannot beat better teams - better in the context of teams they have played and beat - if they continue to make mental mistakes and penalties.
This is a coaching issue. The position coaches must hold their charges accountable for the gaffs and penalties made.
But this ultimately falls on one man who is responsible to ensure the coaches do their job and correct the mistakes. Looking at the top head coaches, Belichick, Reid, Harbaugh, they demand execution as close to flawless as possible. These coaches do not tolerate mental errors.
(Now there will be people posting anecdotal instances for all three of these coaches as if that is a rebuttal. I attribute that to either bias or the non-thinker.)
I am a vocal Garrett must go fan. But this thread is not meant to be another brick in the wall for that stance. It is simply the head coach needs to do his freakin' job and chew a lot of people arses and get these folks minds right about execution and penalties if this team is to withstand the coming two months, make the play-offs, and actually show the league Dallas is more than a one and done franchise.
But then one might make the point that a real GM would be giving a euphemistic colonoscopy to his head coach for being 9 games into the season and it appears to be getting worse instead of better.
I have a theory, right or wrong, that if Jerry really likes you, he becomes too close to hold your feet to the fire. But that may be off base.
