Why have LVE & Jaylon regressed so much?

Those two were causes for hope in 2018.

Looked like we were set for 5-7 years with two of the best LBers in the league, and now, blah. Missed tackles, lack of physicality, and just a general state of looking lost on the field.

Can anyone think of the reason why both have regressed so much?

Sure, they both have moments where they create plays; but for the most part, 2019 has been a massive disappointment for #55 and #54.

I’m concerned and wondering if you guys might have a clue why.

We begin each game being outsmarted...so they start at a disadvantage....
I get what you’re saying, but LVE and Jaylon were the aggressors in 2018. They both flew around the field and seemed so sure of themselves, especially later in the year. LVE was an absolute monster who blew up a ton of plays and was a strong tackler

Huge disappointment this year, they were insane in the open field last year and rarely missed tackles 1 on 1. This year they've been torched to many times to even count. Sucks.

Jaylon was used as a rushing/blitzing LB last week and it payed off. Last night they both were on the coverage all night. I don't know if the problem is with them or the coaches but I am pretty sure they bot can be very productive and efficient when they are used properly.

I'm sure offensive coaching studying them all off season has something to do with it. They probably studied the Rams game from last year.
Now it's time for our coaching staff to adjust and counter.

Don't hold your breath.

I'm as perplexed as you Woot, makes no sense what is going on with them. It has to be the scheme or injury. I can't put a finger on it. They seem lost, tentative, and scared to get hurt almost...

Jaylon played as soft a game as I’ve seen from a LB in quite some time. He was so easy to block today. From what I noticed, if the drive went more than 3-4 plays, he got winded and opted out of a lot of the run fits. Dude just allowed himself to get blocked out of the play on multiple occasions. He deserved to get benched.

Worst thing is that we haven't seen the last of their horridness yet. They'll be back in our next 7 games, and our offense will need to be amazing to overcome their ineptitude in the open field.

Both of them seem really focused on building their "brand". Maybe it's just a coincidence that they fell off after that but it's something I've noticed. Jaylon was incredibly soft tonight. Loved to help the opponent up after seemingly every play too. I'm not that big a fan of his.

Don't know but they keep over pursuing taking bad angles.

Some DT's that stay in their lanes and eat upblocks would lessen the load on them as well though. Too many times completely untouched through the line. Lots of linebackers aren't going to look quite as good when that happen continually like tonight.

Gotta give Minn credit for not being predictable. Called a great game

I noticed that also. Yapping it up with every Viking he passed.

I get it, you don’t have to hate your opponent - but don’t be their friend during the game. Soft move
