Garrett has somehow figured out how to lower Zeke's level of play.

Yea teams know they don’t have to worry about Dak. Who needs to worry about the guy who leads the NFL in QBR, is coming off a 400 yard passing game, leads the league in 4th qt come from behind victories, has a QB rating over 100. Is in the top 5 QB ratings in NFL history. And by every count is worth around $35m per year.

nothing to worry about from our QB.
Maybe we can draft Tua.
And yet Romo was a bigger passing threat

Not sure why teams worry about Zeke. He's not a big play threat anymore. We'll plod down the field with him 4 yards at a time and they'll wait for a holding penalty or for him to need a breather and take himself out of the game. Our big plays come from the passing attack.

Not the same back from 16-17.

Dunno if he bulked up to survive the pounding, and this is the drawback. Or is it simply being slowed down from all the hits he absorbed over 3 years. Or is it a lack of effort training and being content as is, especially after getting that 2nd contract?

Felix Jones was great as a change of pace back early on in his career. Then he bulked up and lost that extra step/agility that made him a homerun player. Once he lost that, he was simply a JAG.

Sure, when you look at the season as a whole, he may end up as a top 3-5 yardage back and his TD numbers will be better than 2018, but it's based off heavy volume of tough runs. Hopefully, he'll be able to repeat those types of years for the next 2-4 years.

He averaged 4.7 ypc last year. Remove this past game, and he's averaging 4.7 ypc. Last year? 4.1.

In 2016 he had 6 games of over 100 yards rushing. He has 5 this year, in only 10 games.

Zeke's not the problem...

He doesn't take care of his body and parties way too much. Everyone should have seen his downfall coming from a mile away. He'll be off the team after 3 more seasons. 1 season into his 5 year extension. WATCH. Hold me to this. I have a knack for these predictions

Also, the cap hit will be minimal in 4 years. So there's that.

He's the bell-cow back whom the team is relying on to set the tone for the entire offense with his carries. Dude simply put on the weight to handle the toll of that responsibility and it's affecting his mobility.

On a serious note... is Zeke the back he was the first 3 years? He just seems slow.

Nope and of right now not even close! No long runs like we saw in the past and when I mean long runs 40+!

Stumbling, bumbling, lumbering...his blitz pickups remain otherworldly though...just ask Russell Wilson how important that is (Carson is a disaster in that regard).

I don’t think they do, at least not anymore than for any other good RB in the league. The Zeke Boyz like to make it out that Zeke is the only running back that’s game planned for or faces stacked boxes.

It's really not that big of a stretch to believe he wont be a Cowboy in 3 years because that would have already been 7 seasons with the Cowboys and running backs really don't last that long especially with one team but I'll say this he's not nearly as ripped as he was coming out of college I mean where is that guy I saw at the combine? Zeke was totally shredded, look at him when he ran the 40, now that's the guy I want in the Cowboys backfield!

Your talking about one game. Whats killing zeke more than anything is that he spent training camp in cabo getting fat and lazy.
It doesn't take 9 weeks to get back in game shape. He no longer has the quickness or speed and it's not coming back as the season goes on

What I noticed about him this year is that he doens't run as much to the outside when the middle is clogged. Instead, he tries to just plow through a small crease that will get him minimal gain.
Early in his career, he would bounce outside and out run the LB/Saftey to the side lines and turn the corner for a big gain. I haven't seen any of that this year.
Maybe he doesn't have confidence in his speed or his vision.

I think it's more vision than speed. For whatever reason, the guy has made some terrible choices when he hits the second level. Sometimes it's like he's looking for contact. Just odd considering how exceptional his vision is at the LOS.

If he only now seems slow to you you haven't been paying attention.

The question should be....is Zeke's rookie year a mirage and is the back we've had the last 3 years the real Zeke?
