LOL - Witten blocking not even that great anymore, you watch the game yesterday, he got blown up on couple of plays. Witten don't bring nothing to the table to the keep the D honest. Great hands but slow getting down field which team can keep there LB in to cover him and support the run at the same time. He not going out run any LB downfield anymore. You have to admit, since Witten been back at TE, we have less success than last year at the TE positions. Speed KILLS
That doesn't counter the fact that you wouldn't even be talking about Wit's blocking if I didn't mention it first. You just say what you want to say without seeing what's already being discussed. Zeke was averaging over 4 yards per carry. Wit was doing a great job blocking in this game.

You still don't get it - Defense coordinator see Witten on the field, there willing to keep a bigger LB or extra guy in the box to support against the run because not worry getting beat down field with Witten. Please explain since Witten been back this year, why our TE productions gone down?

Witten has now settled back in to averaging less than 10 yards per reception (9.0), which is where he's been the last four seasons. Out of all the TEs with the same amount of receptions he has (42 or more), Witten ranks last and is the only guy averaging less than 10 yards in that group.

It's an automatic breather for whoever is covering him on defense. They can live with letting him get open underneath for the short yards

Oh, so now you are an NFL defensive coordinator? No, you are not so stop trying so speak for them. If you can quanitate in some way that what you are saying about TE production is true, then I'd be glad to answer your question, but don't expect me to just buy what you are saying because you said it.

Really....

He's 9th among TE's in receptions, 11th in yards. Catches 75% of his targets and he's 14th in first down conversions for TE's. All this with three solid WR options ahead of him, Zeke and Pollard both solid receiving threats and we run the ball a decent amount. He wasn't brought here to be anywhere near the focal point of the offence and he's the exact role model you want your young guys like Dak, Zeke and Jarwin learning from.

I may give Jarwin a few more opportunities out there and yesterday wasn't Witten's best game but really?? Not sure what you guys expected out of the guy when he came back.... I'm sure the coach on the opposite sideline last night would take him.
Its not #82's fault that his coach is an idiot. Hes very limited as a receiver. You either have go up and get a ball skills or yacs as a receiver in the NFL. Hes got neither. Somebody has to score and its everybodys Job as a team to carry the load and if we have guys dominating snaps that cant score consistently enough its up to tbe coach to call upon others for substitution. Leadership is only gonna get you so far. When your te is playing all the passing snaps and he has 2 checkdown tds all year under 5 yards against scrub teams like washington and the Giants and goes 10 games without scoring thats unacceptable coaching not unacceptable talent. #82 is just overinvolved as a receiver. Thats all on Garrett and Jerrah and the fan base for allowing the scheme to override the talent. Weve had better slot wrs and rbs than tes for years and many thought We should try to use them w no tes on occasional passing downs but we're being sold a bunch of hype when right there in black in white our tes had 1 td in 15 games last year and dominated passing snapcounts and going back 4 years the whole te core scored beans against any good teams and they dominated snapcounts. The playcalls have more playfakes and motion but the personnell groups are the same. All 3 tes dont have the open rate or scoring rate to dominate passing snaps and their is no reason to feature a 2 te led passing offense when its 3rd and 20 and they cant convert consistently. There is no problem w #82s skillsets as long as hes not overinvolved. Jarwin has more sauce as a receiver and should be the only te playing on passing snaps. We dont need 2 tes on passing plays. There is no upside for these checkdown tes

Im not really sold on Jarwin because he is mistake prone. But im not sold on any of these tes. Id use an extra olineman slot wr or rb alot more often. Im not starting 2 checkdown tes. Nobody else is either
