Jerry is right to wait to fire Garrett

I think this team wins regardless of Jason Garrett .

That's why we win against losing teams.

Winning against +.500 teams requires game-planning, scheming, coaching, adjusting, etc ...

Jason Garrett doesn't deserve this treatment from Jerry . Garrett is one of the most talented coaches in the NFL. While Jerry just gives him a garbage roster, with garbage facilities ; Garrett gives his best & that is not fair .

Garrett will finally be happy in NYC , where they will cover his needs .

I hope this is sarcasm.

Mr Jerry Jones is delusional at this point. Cannot even fathom what thought process this man uses at this stage of his life.

Its his team. Go or it.

Go Cowboys!

Number 1: I am 100% in favor of Garrett getting fired.

Number 2: Jerry has an obligation to the paying customers to try to put the best product on the field in the remaining 4 games of the 2019.

Number 3: Jerry has an obligation to his employees (the players) to give them the best chance to win games.

Number 4: Despite how bad things have been, the Cowboys are still in first place, and still can make the playoffs.

Firing Garrett in mid-season would not give the players or fans the best chance to win the next 4 games. At the minimum, Jerry needs to wait for the 10 day break, which means waiting until after the Bears game next week. And however bad morale is now, it would be worse if Garrett was fired now.

At this point, Jerry insisting that the Super Bowl is still the goal keeps the players focused on the immediate task before them. To the players, Jerry's continued faith in their talent keeps morale up. To fire Garrett now would be a signal that he is giving up on this year, and giving up on the team.

So, even though I think Jerry is now committed to firing Garrett, it is wise to wait until the Cowboys either miss the playoffs, or lose in the playoffs before pulling the trigger on putting the Garrett era behind us. (But that doesn't mean he cannot start looking for a new coach now. I'm in favor of getting an assistant coach from a championship team, who has been trained in how to coach champions.)

Its not 'mid season', and I don't understand why that point keeps being brought up. They have 4 games left; 1 quarter of the season remains.

With that said, I want Garrett tossed aside as much as I enjoy breathing air. But there's only a month left in the season. After nearly 10 miserable years of crappy Garrett ball I think I can wait 4 more games.

I agree with both sides of this argument. So I'm not sure how to argue with anyone on this.

Young Grasshopper? I wish. On Turkey day I was playing football with 15 guys my age (34). And 5 guys 17 years old. Those 17 year old kids made us feel old playing 1 hand tag football.... Woof. First time I've ever felt old. Lol.

But I get the saying. Just funny the young grasshopper came up and I'm still sore from playing 1 hand touch football 2 days ago. Lol getting old sucks.

no. Not even close. The majority of the fans want him gone now. The majority of us already know that the playoff dream is gone for this season. Even if we get sneak, we are one and done. Rip the band aid off

Firing Garrett during the season will make a statement with the players .

"You don't get a free ride in Dallas. Give/Get positive results or say goodbye."
Replacing Maher would do that and should be done immediately. I don’t care if you bring in an unknown off the street - there can’t be a single player, coach, fan or front office person that has ANY confidence whenever Shank lines up to attempt a field goal.

What is the benefit in the status quo?

If garrett gave us the best chance to win, then we wouldn't be sitting here at 6-6 with this moribund team, and would likely have more than 2 playoff wins in the past decade to show for it.

He should be canned immediately for this debacle. Make one of the coordinators interim coach and see what they can do for the remainder. If they light a spark and get a deeper playoff run, is that a bad thing? If not, then so what? Season is lost anyway and you're letting garrett walk anyway. This is not a complicated decision.

What HC is going to right this ship? Jerry Jones is still in charge.

if we are lucky, Garrett makes the wildcard get a one and done & we get a low 1st rd draft pick.

the worst of both worlds.

I guess I'm just so beat up by Jerry Jones my enthusiasm is gone. Watching Roger and Clint Longley fight it out was much more fun. I think I'll be in a funk until Jerry himself is not the GM. Silently negative here.

Let him finish the season and then clean house on the entire staff. Richard included. Our defense sucks worse than our offense. No way do we want Richard in charge.

Wrong. It’s been proven time and time again, including with Garrett himself when he took over for Wade, that a coaching change lights a spark.

I would promote Richard. Yeah, the defense hasn’t met expectations but as head coach for 4 games I think he’d light a fire.

They don't want the spark from Kris Richards because they don't want him back

My problem is red can't fire anyone up even if he lit the match himself, 2 games comes to mine right off the bat. The black cat got us that victory against the gnats and the egirls win came because of their coach's big mouth nothing red said and the rest of the games you can see for yourself. The team needs a different voice because they are not hearing his.

There’s no requirement to make the interim the permanent replacement. But I agree that the team responding might move Jerry to do that as the path of least resistance. Strangely, I have some level of confidence Steven would be a voice of reason against doing that.
