Urban Meyer as a NFL HC is pretty much pass advancement. He is pass his pinnacle and has already written his legacy. This is nothing more than creme to him. Can he be the choosen one and bring one to Dallas? If Jerruah is in the mix then no. We can have Belichick and Lombardi coaching this team and we will still under perform.
The pinnacle for any coaching is going to be winning at the pro level

Urban Meyer is actually head coaching material and has proven that. He is on another level than the puppet I think we all know that. Look at Pete Carroll, he was fantastic building up USC, but Urban has beaten Saban with three different teams. I think you guys ought to be on board with Urban, and I certainly hope Jerry lures him in.
Billicheck is the G.O.A.T. However if you want someone you can have confidence going head to head with Billicheck, Meyer is going to be your best bet

Nope, when you did it at a big stage in college nearly all are satisfied. Coaches like him it's more like Taboo. You think Nick Saban cares about winning in the pros as he built his dynasty in Alabama? Nope.

For those that believe Jerry does want to lose credit for any success we have, hiring Meyer could be mutually beneficial

Meyer is known for moving around. He has had health problems, and coaching in a place long term is unlikely. Where a Dallas job would be attractive to him is that he is getting a team with a playoff caliber roster. There is not a rebuild situation. This is a situation where the FO is looking for someone to maximize the roster.

On flip side, the Jones are still able to take credit for assembling the roster. If Meyer is able to come here and win, it would be mostly with players that he inherited.
Good insight

In regards to the USC job, Cowherd had some takes on why that might not be that great a job right now.

Give me a minutes and Ill find the link

Urban Meyer will have his pick of teams to choose from,,,USC, Commanders, Giants and the Cowboys....maybe others as well.

Urban knows what he is doing but.wont stick around long as a HC and will start a bidding war for his services.

Of course, we all want Billicheck given the chance, but this is a pipe dream at this point in time. If you want my opinion, I think Jerry wanted Sean Peyton and would of fired Garrett, but Peyton signed on because he wanted another crack with Drew Brees. It's not out of the question that there is a clause in Peytons contract that allows him to walk either so don't count him out. Having said that, Urban Meyer would get me excited and at least give me some hope because he is a proven commodity. Lets be honest with ourselves at this point, were going to have to keep our fingers crossed that the planets align and Jerry finally makes a hire he is willing to step back for and allow to run things.

I just don't see Meyer as anything close to a series candidate in Jerry's perspective. He's a wife beater enabler who's quit his team 3 times at the 1st sign of adversity. After the Hardy fiasco, I don't see Jerry having to stomach to hearing the issue be rehashed for the 1st 15 minutes of every game for a second time. Hell.... after the repeated failures of college coaches ability to transition to the NFL the last 30 years, I'm not sure why he'd seriously consider one at all!

From my understanding the clause was in Payton's old contract. He could get out of the contract if ownership changed hands. Tom Benson's passing satisfied that to my understanding (although it stayed in the family so it may have be more complicated)

I could be wrong, but I think signing a new deal ended any out he had

The Giants and Commanders he would have to rebuild. I think his odds of winning at those stops in the time frame he usually stays would be significantly less than in Dallas.

In Dallas he could potentially win a Super Bowl next year

Chris Peterson is a pretty decent candidate, no? Never was a big Urban Meyer fan but the guy obviously knows what he's doing and he's gotten a million QB's drafted, most of whom went to underachieve in the NFL. He's been coaching major schools now for almost 20 years and has one of the ultimate college resumes.

Back in October, Jerry praises Urban for being interested in the Dallas head coach position.

Thank.

It's crazy how many football fans miss this.

These guys have goals and huge egos. Urban has had conversations about winning at the next level.

All of the great coaches do. A part of Nick Saban hates that he "failed" with the Dolphins.

Dabo Swinney has thought about it.

They may not end up making the jump, but they all wonder what it would be and if their style, ideas, mentality, etc. would be successful at the NFL.

No relevant HC with his career ahead of him will coach this team with JJ in the mix. Maybe if they done with coaching and want to collect a check. This is the theme so far, rob JJ blind.

Some people would describe this as Urban to a T. You know he's done "collecting the check" when he starts getting migraines. It doesn't take long....4-5 years or so. Florida was caught by surprise but Ohio State was ready.

Would be a huge spike to his legacy too. Winning national championships at different colleges makes you one of the great colleges coaches. Winning national championships at different colleges, as well as a Super Bowl makes you one of the great football coaches.
