Hope its someone good. I am toeing the line on being done once and for all with the Cowboys after 47 years. They made me cry when I was a kid when they lost to the Colts, pulled my hair out at all the Steelers losses, but that was nothing compared to what they have done to me the last few years. At least they made it to the big show back then. Jerry should turn in the @mericas team logo. America deserves better then this trash organization. Jerry needs to sell the team, and the new owner needs to come in and fire every single coach, and trade pretty much every player except Sean Lee, Jeff Heath, Michael Bennet, Cobb and that new kicker.

I don’t know why people want Urban Meyer, he seems to have health issues every other season

The key is cooperation, they will not acquiesce to an alpha male type. They had that with Parcells, never again. It's going to take one with some good people skills in dealing with ownership.
An experience older coach with some good track record during his career might work in this case

There are three varieties. Walk around, HC/DC and HC/OC.

I want a HC/DC like Zimmer and wouldn't mind a young guy like Robert Saleh, Matt Eberflus or Leslie Frazier, who has some HC experience.

Meyer is going to be a walk around and so would Rivera unless he was required to call the D as part of the HC job.

Riley, Roman and Stefanski would be HC/OC's and probably eliminate the need for Moore, unless he was willing to understudy.

I've been watching these challenges with the D, even when they had Phillips as HC and Parcells before that, and don't know if a D mind could fix this but until that gets fixed, this team goes nowhere.

The real challenge is can a D minded HC deal with a follow the ball FO when it comes to the distribution of the cap?

If we want to return to glory, it's all about that D. Yes, Roger and Tony were great and so were the triplets but those D's were greater and I still believe that D delivers.
Doesn’t matter who or what if they dance to JJ strings and can’t pick coaches or have say in players. JJ will only hire a puppet who will walk the line JJ sets. The job pays well if the new HC doesn’t have any self respect.

i just want a coach that can make a roster perform greater than the sum of its parts instead of the reverse like garrett and his goons. does not need to be a drill sergeant but needs to command respect and puts the players in position to succeed. i don’t think most players respect garrett...they might like him but very little respect.

I want a coach that is a disciplinarian and innovative,
What I’ll get is a head coach that is in charge, makes players accountable and is the face and lone voice of the Cowboys, I’ll get Jerry with another puppet pretending to be the head coach

Needs from next HC

1) Be knowledgeable about NFL assistants - the assistants make or break HCs - ask Keith O’Quinn

2) Value the DT position both 1T and 3T - soft teams up the middle get killed

3) Do NOT play bend but don’t break. Over time you will break and not make enough big plays to make up for it.

4) Be able to morph your offensive systems each week dependent on opponent

5) Instill discipline that every play is treated as if it’s the last. Wide open receivers need to catch the ball and the QB needs to hit them. Ball carriers never let up until the whistle blows. Defenders make the basic plays like tackling 1 on 1 or catching the balls that are thrown to you. Execution of FUNDAMENTALS are much more important than scheme.

That's exactly it. I don't have high hopes for this team until Jerry figures that out or dies. I thought he had figured it out when he hired Parcells, and he did it for a while, but he relapsed into his old ways.

I wish I owned this team. I would see if I could convince Jimmy Johnson to come on as GM, and then leave the HC decision totally up to Jimmy. I would watch the games from a sky box and you would never see me on the sidelines, in the locker room, or at practices, except when requested at practice by the HC or GM, and then to discuss business matters, like how we should go about getting players we need. I would be the opposite of Jerry Jones.
That sounds like a great plan to me

I would like to see a walk-around ball-buster HC with advanced knowledge of all 3 phases of the game. Someone who would leave a player behind if he is not on time. Someone who would fire guys on the spot and make them pay their own plane ticket home. I want an absolute tyrant that puts fear into players and coaches alike.

In this day in age when players can just stop playing whenever they want and demand a trade I wonder if those kind of coaches are still around. Besides Belichick who for obvious reasons can do what he wants and players either obey or get cut are there any other examples?

How about a HC that shows some emotion on the sideline, who engages the players and not just when they fail to get a first down and come off the field. Someone who can get ticked off if things come unglued and hold people accountable. Or how about a coach that is animated when chewing out the refs and blown calls and throws the flag at them! Is this asking for too much?? I watch Belichick talking to his defense while play is going on, getting in their faces when they don't execute. Dam I want a coach to coach!!!
YEAH
