Amari Cooper shouldn’t be resigned

agreed, it does suck to waste another 1st rd pick but let it be a lesson and move on (that would be the dumbest and worst reason to sign a guy to a big $ contract btw!). his disappearing acts and drops are no bueno!

don’t double down on amari...it’s a losing hand! plus he just seems like a guy who would randomly retire for what ever reason.
You don't understand this sport as much as you think you do.

Keep him, but only if he doesn't break the bank. He is a good receiver, but he is no Randy Moss out there. Still, remember what it was like when Deonte Thompson was our leading receiver? Not good.

I concur

Let the rebuild begin. Use the $20m hes asking for, on defense. Draft a WR
Willie that would take foresight from the Jones to get this done. I think they're so desperate to be right that they're going to pay out the nose for Cooper. This is what happens when you mess around and don't do your due diligence. I think he's going to get Julio money.

I hear ya, man. It’s frustrating. And in all honesty, I wouldn’t complain too much if the team got him to agree to a shorter term contract. He IS productive, but I’m just fed up with the season in general. Excitement will come back in a month or two
Lets watch Gallup fight through the doubles when Cooper leaves.
Then we can blame Dez, Cooper and then Gallup for disappearing.....

Its on the coaches and scheme to put the most talented players in a position to succeed and do the most damage to the defense.
We line guys up and let the defensive scheme them out of the games.

Cooper is a guilty pleasure. I understand why people are against the move, but when he's good, he's almost unstoppable. He's more great than bad. I would sign him again.

Well stated. He allows the other receivers to get open as the D has to account for him on every play.

Oh is that how it works?

You guys have no clue. Let a defense roll the double to Gallup and then we can all come on here and complain how he disappeared.....

Remember when Dez disappeared? Don't you see a pattern?

Julio Jones disappears?
Michael Thomas disappears?
TO disappeared?
Pre-crazy AB disappeared?

The answer is no, they don’t/didn’t.

Cooper is going to want top WR money for part time production. Doubled or not, top WR need to produce. Amari doesn’t.

Supreme talent isn’t solely dependent on being schemed open. Sure, it helps, but it shouldn’t be necessary. If scheme has to always be relied upon to create separation, we might as well sign bum WR off the street.

He's going to get paid, there are plenty of teams who need the help as much if not more than we do and a potential rise in the cap coming. Don't base your decision on the idea he might not get paid - he will. The question is is he worth breaking the bank for.

New coach should be making that decision. Maybe after a year on a tag?

Should be? Sure. Have you seen Jerry Jones at work? He's going to want to justify trading that #1 pick.

All that said, if we tag him fine, but to jwooten's original point he has not proven IMO he is worth a long term, (very) large contract. Plus I think I would rather see resources devoted to giving Dak a better TE outlet that doesn't catch the ball 5 yards down the field and fall down. That can help Gallup as much as blowing the bank on a very inconsistent WR1.

Are any of those guys coached by this staff?

Have you learned nothing from watching for years? Have you been such a homer than when guys leave Dallas and talk about how the offense puts handcuffs on players you just dismiss it?

Bring anyone of these guys to Dallas under this staff and they would disappear.
If you think doubling a WR doesn't matter then you really don't understand this game.

Keep Cobb let Gallup continue to grow. Sign a veteran to fill out the starters and I’d be content.

Amari is terribly inconsistent and seems to lack a passion for the game. Yes, we spent a first rounder on him, but oh well.

If we have decisions on who to pay, it’d make the numbers easier to swallow by letting Cooper walk. To me, he just isn’t worth the $18-20 million he’s gonna want.

He was easily our best player last year... and played with an injured foot all year, this year...

I would take a flyer on him...

You love pretending to be a resident football expert and insulting others’ football knowledge. You disagree purely for the sake of disagreement because your opinions oftentime make zero rational sense.

He's not getting "flyer" money. He is getting a significant commitment of someone's cap money.

Not sure it should be ours.

Wait, isn't this the receiver this forum was raving about last year, saying he was more than worth the first-round pick we gave up to get him?

Feel free to prove anything I said wrong. I completely carved your weak arse points up like a thanksgiving turkey.
Don't be vague. Disprove what I said.

Stop coming here trying to spread you emotional man baby over reactionary BS with zero facts to support and I'll stop making you look like the fool.

Good luck.
