Time to quit dunking on Jason Garrett

Why do you say he worked hard when there is plenty of evidence to support he did not. Going to a basketball game when you have short week, never game planning for specific opponents. Not taking over special teams this year when they were a disaster.
Dont forget the Dodger game before the playoff game wasnt it?

Yes, Jason Garrett needed to be fired, and the Cowboys needed to move on to another coach. Now that they've settled on Mike McCarthy, it is time to quit dunking on Jason Garrett. Whatever else you may say about Garrett, he gave the Cowboys 20 years of dedicated service, and although he came up short, no one can honestly say he didn't give it his best effort.

The vast majority of "fans" gloating over his firing couldn't come close to being as professional as Garrett, and couldn't coach the team better than Garrett did. It is sad that he didn't become what Jerry Jones hoped he would be.

Sometime in the future, Garrett may get another chance elsewhere. At that point, we'll find out if Garrett was really the issue and is truly just a mediocre coach, or if Garrett was too hamstrung by Jerry Jones to have a true opportunity to be successful. Whatever the case, it clearly wasn't working for Dallas. Quite frankly, I don't know if it was Garrett, or if the Cowboys coaching environment is so toxic that no one can be successful. I do know (along with everyone else who is gloating) that Garret and Jones weren't getting it done together in Dallas, and that Jones isn't leaving. So Garrett had to go.

But I think the man deserves more respect than many are giving him. He has been a dedicated Cowboy for a long time, and his family has been associated with the Cowboys for even longer. Surely, that service deserves more respect than what some fans are dishing out.

Since we have been calling for his firing for most of his career, I don't to be overly respectful of the legend that is the Clapper. The clapper was dedicated to the money that was lining his pockets. Let's not get carried away with the notion of establishing a monument to him.

I am much more professional than Garrett by the simple fact that I didn't back stab anyone to get the job I have now.

The professionalism about the guy is a joke. He smiled and avoided confrontation- he was nice to the media. But he continually threw others under the bus. He gave off a faux-hardworking attitude and a faux-tough guy persona with all of his pointless cussing.

Oh, and he was a TERRIBLE game day coach. He didn't improve in a single thing since he got the job. Not one.

This is a great day that he isn't here anymore.

If Garrett wasted 10 years of your life then you are doing a poor job of managing said life. There is more to life than football.
My life is pretty good. Thank you for your concern and my God Bless America

Jason Garrett was nothing but a lame duck puppet for Jerry Jones and he did nothing but kiss Jerry's *** and that's exactly how Jerry wanted it. Garrett shouldn't have been hired in the first place because he was an extension of Wade Phillips who was also a lame duck! Garrett deserves all the criticism he gets and a whole lot more!

Screw Garrett. Dude wasted 10 years of all of our lives

I for one won't feel sorry for someone who got paid the following, and as they say never " brought home the bacon"

Garrett's five-year contract, which is valued at $30 million, expires Jan. 14.

I didn't see a lot of people touting him as the next Landry. In any case, even if there were people wrong about him, so what? We all are wrong about players and coaches at times. Garrett worked hard at the job and ultimately fell short of accomplishing what he was hired to accomplish. It happens all the time. It's not something he should be scored for, and that's not why the change is being made. It's a business decision to improve the talent in the head coaching spot.

If you posted one of those polls here asking if Garrett had a winning record as HC, you would probably get 80% of the posters saying he has a losing record.

"quit dunking on Jason Garrett" what are you high or something?! The guy is still on Cowboys payroll. Once he's totally out/away from this franchise, THEN I'll stop dunking on him only because I'll have forgotten all about him.

not sure how Garrett's current status has any affect on how and when fans can discuss his performance on a Cowboys forum. With that logic, we're only allowed to discuss those associated with the Cowboys who are under contract and once they're not, their name never be "dunked" again?
