Yes, Jason Garrett needed to be fired, and the Cowboys needed to move on to another coach. Now that they've settled on Mike McCarthy, it is time to quit dunking on Jason Garrett. Whatever else you may say about Garrett, he gave the Cowboys 20 years of dedicated service, and although he came up short, no one can honestly say he didn't give it his best effort.

The vast majority of "fans" gloating over his firing couldn't come close to being as professional as Garrett, and couldn't coach the team better than Garrett did. It is sad that he didn't become what Jerry Jones hoped he would be.

Sometime in the future, Garrett may get another chance elsewhere. At that point, we'll find out if Garrett was really the issue and is truly just a mediocre coach, or if Garrett was too hamstrung by Jerry Jones to have a true opportunity to be successful. Whatever the case, it clearly wasn't working for Dallas. Quite frankly, I don't know if it was Garrett, or if the Cowboys coaching environment is so toxic that no one can be successful. I do know (along with everyone else who is gloating) that Garret and Jones weren't getting it done together in Dallas, and that Jones isn't leaving. So Garrett had to go.

But I think the man deserves more respect than many are giving him. He has been a dedicated Cowboy for a long time, and his family has been associated with the Cowboys for even longer. Surely, that service deserves more respect than what some fans are dishing out.

I've been dunking on Garrett for 10 years now... and neither you, nor James Harden can stop me...

He didn't respect Wade Philips, he didn't respect Tony Romo, he didn't respect all the assistants and players he threw under the bus, he didn't respect Kellen Moore most recently, etc.
No sympathy for him. He made 50 million to stink at a job he was never qualified for. Good riddance and I will mock him forever and ever and I don't care if you put fan in quotes

Is that pro or anti Harden? Just curious if you are Rockets fan? I am a huge one. The Rockets and Astros are the only sports teams I have watched in the last two years after I went on a Garrett boycott in late 2017. I am looking forward to getting back into watching the Cowboys finally having HOPE for the future of the team.

People dislike(d) Garrett, the coach; they didn’t dislike Garrett, the person. Huge distinction.

It’s not immoral or unacceptable to rag on his lack of success and just because he’s been fired shouldn’t prevent the truth from being told

The Garrettphiles touted him for a decade, told us how he was the Next Landry, how his intelligence and culture would fix everything, etc... and now less than 20 hours after his firing is official, they want us to leave poor Jason alone.

No. Not happening.

Hey you forgot one.......he went to Princeton so he had to be smart.:lmao:

This. Loved the player and person, hated the head coach.

Honesty, I hoped he would develop, but after his process went into year five, I knew it was time for him to go.

Guy is a total clown. He wasted 10 years of my time. He should have been fired after the 2nd or 3rd straight 8-8 Season.

Guy threw everyone under the Bus to save his job and would still.
That he was still advertising to stay Coach here these last days eventhough everyone knew he was going to be fired is a total sign of a Loser who knows he will never get a Job like this anymore.

If this dude would have any kind of pride he would have resigned

Needs to go to college where his style never gets stale given the constant turnover with players.
