Now, Jerry, respect Mike's boundaries. Don't bring some Sheik from the Middle East into the locker room. If you want him to enjoy the game from a sky box, fine, but no visits to the locker room.

Wow. I haven’t voted yet, but was leaning slightly to the no side. Now it’s a BIG no!

This article reads like an analysis of the Jerry-Jimmy era. And quite a bit of the Jason coaching era. I had previously read about this time last year where Mike’s philosophy was to just beat your man much like Jason’s.

The change, it had to come, we knew it all along, we were liberated from the fold, that's all, and the world looks just the same, and history ain't changed. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

That said, I hope I’m wrong. Only time will tell.

I’m concerned McCarthy and the DCs being mentioned are the must haves from a decade ago. Not today.

Perhaps Jerry wants to erase the mistake he made ten years ago. I’d personally prefer the up and comers. I thought Jerry was a risk taker!

Jerry is 77. He's old. He cannot afford to spend time on some college-to-NFL transition coach or some hotshot young OC/DC who has no prior head coaching experience. He is in win-now mode. In just a few years, a heart attack, stroke, or whatever could do Jerry in. If he is going to see one last Super Bowl title it has to be now, with a pedigreed Super Bowl-winning coach. That's McCarthy.

I am shocked there has not been a press conference yet ......... Especially because of Jerry's fetish with a microphone in his face.

Forget SB, I would just be happy with an NFC Title Game appearance.............Big Mike has 4 of those..........Garrett has, LMAO, do I even need to say it.

As for Garrett, he made the playoffs 3 times in 10 seasons..........kinda hard to make the Title Game when you miss the playoffs 70% of the time.

Just saying.
hilarious.... MM had Brett Farve and AAron Rodgers his entire time in GB.

You know who else was amazing when he had HOF QBs? George Seifert. He went from Montana to Steve young, and he was amazing. A true leader of men, a motivator, an innovator, a multiple SB winning coach.

Strangely, I think he hit his head on the flight to Carolina, because when he started coaching the Panthers, he must have forgot how to coach. That, or he learned that without a HOF qb he was just like every other joe coachng in the NFL and those great schemes dont work so well without Steve Young scrambling around creating havoc on a defense..... alah Russel Wilson.

Jerry can get a microphone in his face any time he wants, and it has been like that since 1989... thats 30 years. Im sure it is no big deal to him anymore. Kind of like the guy that marries Selma Hayek. Sex with her for a few years must be amazing, then after a while... ho hum.

Absolutely not, McCarthy is a trash coach. He had Rodgers and still couldn't do anything with him. He doesn't hold any players accountable (Jason Garrett) and I believe he got pick cause he a "yes man" and will please Jerry Jones. With that said, he will do better than Jason Garrett especially on this stack offense. Now Dak fanboys will have no more excuses and in the end this Cowboys forum will still be the same with Chaos!
You mean the choker?

No one talks about it because it's "AARON RODGERS", but he's always been a bit of a choker in big games. Snarky and full of his own rightness. No matter how well someone coaches, you can't coach choking away.

And since it came out last year already that Aaron was refusing to run the plays McC called for, makes you wonder just how much of it was on McC?

I don't know exactly what McC is, and you know what? You don't either. Pretending to know something you don't is just so 12 year oldish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading Sturms article on McCarthy, he had one bit I want to share.

From 16-18 Cowboys were #1 on running on first down. Guess what rank McCarthy was? 32nd.
25% lower first down run rate.

Some folks are so giddy they'll be fitting McCarthy for a gold jacket by the end of this week.

I don't get it. Hiring a failed coach isn't going to be the upgrade so many are trying to convince themselves of. At best he'll maintain Garrett's status quo.

And yet, you pretend to know about Aaron Rodgers.

Seems like a lot of people here are working hard to convince themselves that McCarthy is a great hire. I'm less thrilled but I'll give him a chance to prove my doubts wrong.

What I'm not going to do is blow a bunch of smoke to try to convince myself or anyone else that Jerry fell in love with the right guy. We'll see.

This guy is a complete moron. He was “shocked” he got another job. Meanwhile he had like 3 interviews from teams so far in free agency.

also everyone that says it was all Rodgers discounts the rest of the team. How GB never drafted a legit running back to play with Rodgers..... never had a consistent defense either. Rodgers is great no doubt but he never had a great team around him.

the reason the packers are good this year is cause they have an Aaron Jones and a decent defense.
“Never drafted a legit running back”

Ever hear of Aaron Jones? He’s a flat-out stud who has carried the Packers offense all year.

Just because McCarthy was too stupid to ride Jones while he averaged a whopping 5.5 Yds/Rush in 2017 AND AGAIN in 2018..... does not mean he wasn’t “legit.”

Love it to be honest. Let's go back to 2014. Last Jerry went substance (Martin) over flash (Johnny Football), it turned out really well.

Mike Mac was the absolute best candidate available for this talented, but undisciplined team. He is known as a disciplinarian who will put fear into underachieving players (like Chido).

And say what you will, but he basically resurrected Farve's career, while also grooming Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers gives him credit for his development:

I think he can help take Dak to the next level too. And here in Dallas, Mike Mac (arguably) has more weapons at his disposal than what he had in GB.

And if we are honest, Rodgers' best years were under Mike Mac. As great as Rodgers is, what ever has he done without this guy?

The fact that he's been to the mountain top should immediately get the attention of the locker room and demand their respect too. Simply put, I'm happy and excited for his hire. Good job Stephen Jones.

When you look at McCarthy, do you see discipline? I am sorry, but I don’t.
