Hoping for this to be true. I doubt it is though. Calling all of these coaches in to talk and interview for your new staff and deciding on who to keep and not to keep and adjusting to Dallas is probably hard and time consuming. He has all offseason to call Dak. Unfortunately, The Joneses and McCarthy want to give him another shot. Probably scared of drafting a potential bust like many posters here and are settling for mediocrity that is Dak instead of taking a chance at the draft. We need to be like the Chiefs and just take the risk.

This is what pisses me off. Jerry wont draft a QB in the top rounds and make this a QB competition.

I do think there is a subtle message from MM here to Dak. “You are not bigger than the franchise.”

And I like it. He will build with Dak just fine when they meet— but Dak is going to need to know his place in the pecking order— and that is behind owner and head coach
Thats exactly how it should be. I like it too!

Bah. He should call a team meeting. Dak isn’t any more important than anyone else on the team. I am anxious to see how the players react when they can’t run to JJ anymore and the party is over.

It’s a well over 90% probability that Dak comes back but anybody that thinks there aren’t internal discussions about moving on and signing one of those veterans is fooling themselves. You have to at least consider that possibility.

You could be right. But I really think this deal gets done. JJ wants 7 year deal and Dak wants 3 or 4 year deal so he can cash in twice. I don’t even think the money is the issue. I could see us tagging him. But he did improve this season. Still needs to work on accuracy.

You should know that you’re considered a joke here.

This needs a separate thread...........Stephen's all abut guaranteed Dak will NOT be tag. He will get his deal before free agency starts. In fact, look for them to give very close to what he wants and no, I think for one second he wants $40M. Remember he even admitted he should get Wilson money unless he wins a Super Bowl. My guess, his deal will come in peg or two over Goff money.

 No you don't ......I mean why would you, especially with the praise and confidence Mike just threw Dak's way. Trust me, the only ones fooling themselves are Dak haters not believing Stephen and Jerry are 100% sold.

Lol. Wow. Yeah let’s just go draft mahomes. Let’s do it. You sir are an imbecile . Dak has been dealing with Garrett since he was drafted. Mediocre and Garrett are synonymous. So I’m reserving my judgement to see Dak under the tutelage of a real HC. You should do the same. Because if Dak has a breakout year under McCarthy you’re going to look even worse than you already do on this board when you come back eating crow.

If I’m Dak I’d lobby for Kitna to be back. McCarthy May want to have answers as to who the QB coach would be and not risk upsetting Dak by not taking his suggestion. I’m sure once his staffs in place he and Dak will talk.

Nobody is hating on Dak! There is a reason everyone has stated last year was a prove it year for him. There is a reason he hasnt been paid. There is no room for hate its all about performance. And people are noticing his garbage time stats making them scratch their head and wonder why he isnt performing against better teams earlier in the game. Some of it is play calling and some have been drops and some have been missing wide open guys badly. Dak moves the ball between the 20s but people are noticing his redzone struggles and how he goes cold for too many 3 and outs. 35 million a year is a lot of money to pay a QB that has so many question marks and is not able to step up and show he can carry the team just once in a while like Wilson can. I would franchise Dak for one year and let McCarthy decide if he is worth keeping.

What did we say about name calling? Imbecile because I share a different opinion than you on Dak? C’mon dude. Why do people get so defensive over Dak? If I don’t like his play style/play level, I can say whatever opinion I want on him. The only fact we have on Dak is that he’s inconsistent.

Dak has had 4 years in the NFL. Why we he suddenly break out in year 5? I get McCarthy has a QB school and all, but we all highly regarded Kitna and though he did change Dak for the first half of the season, he soon regressed back to early 2018 Dak in the latter half of the season. What am I supposed to make of McCarthy being able to change him? Cowboys Break made a good point. Even though McCarthy changed Aaron Rodgers, who many teams passed on, Rodgers was predicted to even be the 1st pick in some drafts at the time, so it’s not like he didn’t have the tools to work with. Dak at his highest was predicted to go 2nd or 3rd. McCarthy has a lot more to work with and change in Dak. Footwork, accuracy, arm, leading receivers, reading defenses, throwing in stride, etc. some of these things will take A LOT of time to change. Not just a year. Unfortunately, with Dak, we don’t have more than a year. You can Franchise a player up to 3 Times, but I doubt Dak would allow that. If he can’t play like he did in the Vikes game consistently for the most this coming season, he needs to hit the road.

Also, you are taking my words out of context again. Again, this is the problem I’m talking about. I’m not saying we’ll draft the next Mahomes, but we can draft someone better than Dak. Everyone here is so afraid of drafting a bust that they actually list that as one of the reasons why to keep Dak. Not because he’s good, not because he consistently plays well, but because we might draft a bust and have no other options. C’mon man.

Everyone always uses that excuse. But every year there are guys that come out in the draft that are decent QBs and could do what Dak does but you gotta go up and get em. Even if they drafted another mediocre QB at least he would be on a rookie contract.

Technically Dak is set to be a free agent , so...................? I can understand him not calling Dak immediately.

If they do move on from Dak, what QB in the draft are we taking? Joe Burrow? How much do you give up to move up and get him? 3 first round picks over the next 3 years?

But really what’s a few minute conversation worth?

Maybe McCarthy doesn’t want to call or meet with him until he knows he can give the conversation the attention it deserves.

I mean would it really make a difference in the grand scheme of things if McCarthy had made a three minute call to Dak already just for principle? IMO, I don’t think so.

The media just reports on stuff like this so that folks overthink and scrutinize.
I'm sure Dak's ego is strong enough to handle this. It's not like he called other players and ignored him.
Cam's ego probably needed reassuring.

I think the real question is, what are you giving up in this “go up and get them” scheme? Also if you say gave up a first or a second to “go up and get them” and the QB turns out to be a mediocre QB or worse a bust, what have you achieved other than drafting a busy and paying through your nose to get that person?

As soon as he got the job he should have been on the phone with key players. Especially the ones with no contract. A phone call takes 5 minutes.
