This OP is short and sweet.

We have THREE (3) 3!!!!!!! takeaways in SIX (6) 6!!!!! games.

We have 12 turnovers.

We are DEAD last in the league in takeaways AND turnover differential -NINE (-9) -9!!!!!!

Injuries aside, this is the #1 reason we are 2-4. You don't win in this league EVER being dead last in this category.

That is all. Case closed.

The past 23 games, the Cowboys are 14-3 with Romo, and 0-6 without him.

The dude is simply underappreciated and underrated.

Here's hoping Cassel can stem the tide and resist the undertow.

I think turnover battle is about # 3 or 4 on the list. Losing Tony is # 1 and losing Dez is # 2.

This is not good, but it is also a strange statistic. Usually, turnovers come your way to some degree.

Dallas has had opportunities, but couldn't get their hands on fumbles, and dropped some interceptions.

It's a combination of things. Horrific quarterback play, a lot of dropped balls, lack of a run game until last week, banged up offensive line, patchwork defensive line for a few weeks, the turnovers, and lack of explosive plays on special teams.

No one wants to admit it but most turnovers happen because of carelessness by the opposing team or quarterback. Last season, we had a lot of fumbles go our way and did it at a successful rate.

That isn't the No. 1 reason. We didn't lose to New York because we didn't force a turnover. We lost because we gave the ball away three times in the second half and allowed a 100-yard kickoff return and then muffed a punt.

Now, it would be great if we got some turnovers, but I don't just count those as a given (something the team can necessarily count on). There are other areas we can control that we didn't control those well enough Sunday to overcome the injury setbacks we've suffered.

Yep. You can create turnovers with your offense, too, by putting teams behind and forcing them to become predictable. Defenses create them by stopping the running game and putting teams in negative down-and-distance situations.

Otherwise, it's a bit of a crapshoot.

Great point. And this is what I was saying earlier about how Romo not being here effects everyone from the offensive line to the receivers to the backs to the defense......teams don't even have to play us aggressive because they know chances are our offense will isn't going to muster up more than 20 points. Play a conservative dink and dunk game against us, run the football and that should be good enough to win. You can't create turnovers against a conservative gameplan.

This Giants game.......Eli took no shots downfield aside from the one hand attempt to ODB and the one hander by Randle. They relied on their running game.

Who is this no one fella?

Because I know here on the zone many people have talked about the lack of takeaways.

Offenses can play conservative against the Cowboys because they are not concerned about the Cowboys offense.

It might seem like a defense only problem but the Cowboys lack of offensive threat makes it more difficult for the defense to get opportunities due to offenses playing conservatively against them.

The defense does need to catch the ball when they do get the opportunity or they need to recover the ball when Hardy strips it from the QB, but don't overlook the Cowboys offense in the equation.
