That would be one hell of a start to rebuilding our defense. I approve!
I'm certain that KC will find cap room to franchise Houston or just ofer him the same contract he is suggesting that the Cowboys pay him.

I see now that all off-season there will be articles and posts showing all the players the Cowboys can fit under the 2015 cap. It's candyland.

I do think they will sign a top FA or two, but there is no need to show the 2015 numbers to prove it. Now if he comes back with a comprehensive review of the next 4 years of the cap then that would be interesting.

Yes, this year we don't need to see the numbers. Almost everybody realizes that the 2015 cap is not the issue. The future year's cap is the limiting factor.

I think you are too worried about future years. After Romo, TSmith is the only long term deal and he is very reasonable.

The cap is also going to keep rising and they should have no problem fitting Dez, Murray and a FA or 2 under the cap in the near future.

I'm not worried about it. I'm just saying that a simple look at only the 2015 cap is not how the team will look at it. They will make decisions about the future and current year's caps.

The rising cap will cause salaries to increase also.

I expect them to keep most of their FAs and to get a couple off somewhat expensive ones, but they won't max out the cap.

Some issues like Murray might be about more than money per se. They might think he will decline quickly.

We've never been in the position of being 10s of millions under the cap. Even when you projected out 2-3 years, we were always over the cap. If you look at 2016 we are 50m+ under the cap and 70m+ under the cap for 2017.

Being this close and having an aging franchise QB, now is the time to max out the cap. It only takes a season to get right with the cap and that will come when we need to replace Romo.

I agree to an extent but going all out in free agency does not often work. See the Skins.

They will be smart about it, IMO and won't just throw money around like the Skins did at times. I think they figured out that having too many big money guys can cause motivation issues.

Last offseason Marinelli openly campaigned to keep Hatcher but was silent in regards to Ware. I think that was a chemistry issue for whatever reason in Marinelli's mind.

I'm confident that the Cowboys management know what they're doing now. It's obvious that Jerry is not making emotiional decisions like he did in the past. The Jerry of the past would have drafted Manziel and payed whatever was required to keep Ware.

There really aren't that many guys I want to keep among our unrestricted free agents to be.

Dez Bryant is a given, extension or franchise tag.

Either Doug Free or Jermey Parnell (I like the latter but it will probably be the former).

Rolando McClain, provided he isn't trying to break the bank.

Justin Durant, only if McClain leaves.

Tyler Clutts can go to camp on a one year, minimum deal if an upgrade isn't signed. The same goes for Tony Hills.

I let everyone else walk while tendering all restricted and exclusive rights free agents.

Not sure why anyone would think Dallas is interested in replacing Church as a starter. It would be more likely for Dallas to look for a corner if Carr is cut, which I think will happen because his cost is too high compared to his production.

I think Dallas will give Claiborne every chance to win that job, though, so I don't think a bona fide starter will be acquired.

The Skins biggest problem is they go after high price FA in the downside of their careers. And also trade away draft picks every year which further exacerbates the problem. Name the last big FA they signed that was in his prime when he joined the Commanders, Archuleta, maybe Garcon. As the article stated go after guys coming of their rookie deals less risk involved because of track record and they are a known commodity by then. Rookies take 2-3 years to pan out or more (claiborne). Now I am not advocating spending like drunken sailor to fill the roster but do not be scared to sing a guy if he fits and can play out most if not all of the contract.

I may be in the minority but I liked that other cb, I think his name was Sterling Moore. He is scrappy and played pretty decent to me. I don't see his name in the defensive backfield in this article. Personally I think Carr taking a pay cut, getting a good FA FS, and a good pass rush this defense becomes pretty stout. If they're able to keep McClain along with those moves it's a wrap.

I can see what you're saying. Alot guys I don't want back too. Harris I want gone. Horrible season returning kicks. I do want mcclain and either durant or carter but I think carter played himself out of dallas w how he stepped up late in the year

Sterling moore got cooked up the entire green bay playoff game. That dude Adams made him into his personal play thing

It was a step up from mo Claiborne. I don't mind moore in a nickel role.

Sterling Moore is not better than Claiborne in any universe. He got to play the nickel meanwhile Claiborne was going up against the #2 receivers.
