There really aren't that many guys I want to keep among our unrestricted free agents to be.

Dez Bryant is a given, extension or franchise tag.

Either Doug Free or Jermey Parnell (I like the latter but it will probably be the former).

Rolando McClain, provided he isn't trying to break the bank.

Justin Durant, only if McClain leaves.

Tyler Clutts can go to camp on a one year, minimum deal if an upgrade isn't signed. The same goes for Tony Hills.

I let everyone else walk while tendering all restricted and exclusive rights free agents.

Agree.

They have to decide on Murray.

RT UFA Doug Free 31
DE UFA Anthony Spencer 31
OLB UFA James Anderson 31
FB UFA Tyler Clutts 30
LT UFA Tony Hills 30
OLB UFA Justin Durant 29
DT UFA Nick Hayden 29
RT UFA Jeremy Parnell 28
S UFA C.J. Spillman 28
DE UFA George Selvie 27
WR UFA Dwayne Harris 27
WR UFA Dez Bryant 26
RB UFA DeMarco Murray 26

OLB UFA Bruce Carter 26
ILB UFA Rolando McClain 25

CB ?FA Sterling Moore 25
P ?FA Chris Jones 25

LT RFA Darrion Weems 26
WR RFA David Little 26
WR RFA Cole Beasley 25
RB RFA Lance Dunbar 25
G RFA Ron Leary 25
OLB ERFA Cameron Lawrence 24

Sterling Moore is not better than Claiborne in any universe. He got to play the nickel meanwhile Claiborne was going up against the #2 receivers.

If by "Nickel" you mean that he only played the slot all season then that's not true. Scandrick and Moore both played the slot at times during the season. Moore ended up playing on the outside for a fair number of snaps.

Claiborne obviously has better physical ability than Moore, but Moore is a smarter, more NFL savvy player.

Claiborne was not as bad as people proclaimed, IMO. He can cover 1-on-1 fairly well. His problem is that offenses would trick him. If there were 2 WRs on his side of the field he often didn't know how to switch off in coverage.

I do see any of this happening. this looks like a madden football offseason. I do not see a free agent safety signed or Houston signed. Houston will be franchised by the chiefs.

Yeah, Moore would make a dandy 3rd corner.

I guess I'm one of the few who still thinks that Claiborne can do something positive.

I'm not from Missouri, but he is going to have to show me something before I believe in him again. Because of the draft picks and time investment we have I am rooting for him big time. My expectations are considerably lower, if not lower, than the day we drafted him.

Yeah, my expectations have fallen also.

I'm not expecting a "top-5" corner kind of thing.

If he was a top 20 corner I'd be thrilled.

I think training camp will tell us a great deal– is the guy practicing every day or is he on the sidelines with some kind of "injury"?

Claiborne's injury was a pretty devastating one. In terms of how modern medicine has caught up it was not quite as bad as microfracture surgery, but worse than an ACL tear.

The problem now is that he only has 1 year remaining on his contract. If he comes back and lives up to his expectations then he'll be an expensive free agent after the season. If he is not in line for for a good pay day after the season then that means that he didn't live up to expectations. He never plays in the preseason and it seems doubtful that he will again this season.

Hopefully he can come back this and contribute this season, but they'll never get their investment back regardless because of the free agency issue.

I fully expect the Cowboys to pick up another corner along way... and not a 3rd day draft corner either.

This is a unique take - full of detail - on one approach Dallas could take this offseason.

http://dal.scout.com/story/1509095-cowboys-offseason-manifesto-free-agency-fire?s=112

I am sorry but this such a bad of an article its just a waste of time to read it.

Just look at the contracts and how they planed to distribute those salaries over the years. first year always vet minimum. in the following years every contract explodes. I dont even want to talk about some contracts in detail (Free for instance).
