I think everyone agrees with that lineup. It's just that so many fans realize the lineup is certainly a temporary one, lasting for a few games at most. How well prepared will the be when Tyron gets hurt?
That’s definitely a concern, but also a separate issue.

As Baldy mentioned, why bring Tyron back at all if not to play him? And if you’re playing him, put him at his best position.

But in doing that, don’t ignore his injury history and prepare accordingly. Whether that preparation is Waletsko, bringing back Jason Peters, whatever. Have a plan and don’t get caught unprepared.

Agreed. People keep saying it's one or the other with Tyron when it's really not. He can still play and you can still have a decent fallback option if and when he does get hurt.

I also find it kind of strange that people are like "oh don't play Tyron because his downgrade backup will eventually have to play" but the solution is just play the downgrade backup from the start ? (how exactly is that logical ?)

The one that enraged me is the idea of playing Tyron at RT and displacing Steele.

Are ya kidding me?

If and when Tyron gets hurt???? He hasn't played a full season since 2015...He's played 17 games in the last three years.....He'll be lucky to make it half way through training camp before he's injured.....Tyler hasn't done anything to be removed as the left tackle...The best spot for Tyron at his age and injury is at swing tackle....let the left guard position play out in training camp, they have lots of guys to through at the position, I think Edoga will win the spot at guard.
Likely if Tyron gets hurt (well it's fair to say win) that Tyler goes back to tackle and Edoga starts at guard. We're in the same boat as last year there but Edoga replaces McGovern.

Honestly, it sounded like he didn’t know anything about them. Between butchering their names to his lazy comparison of Fehoko to Bradley Anae, he sounded unprepared.
Yeah the Fehoko-Anae comparison reminds me of the Dak-Stroud comparisons.

I agree with all that. I'm just wondering what it will look like in the playoffs.

Hopefully, Waletzko will prove able to handle that role.

Development is a big part of it. And there are a few of these guys that need time and the opportunity to show it. Can't just blow top tier picks on Oline every time there's a hole.

He's your best OT. He just is. He's better than Steele. He's better than Tyler Smith.

Benching him and making him a swing OT is kinda silly. Play your 5 best.
Tyron WAS your best OT, age and injury shows he isn't anymore.....Tyler has overtaken Tyron as the best OT on the roster...can't play your best five when one is injured all the time, he only played 17 games in the last three years, you can't constantly shift in and out linemen and positions because your playing to one aging veteran..

You start with your five best and then adjust as injuries set in.

It's literally the most preposterous thing I have heard yet - benching a quality OT with a big cap hit because you are afraid he might get hurt. Ride him until he gets hurt. It's really not that hard.

Here is Baldinger's breakdown of Micha's pass rushing he was referring to on the call with 105.3.

I can understand why some might not be that high on our draft. It was a meat and potatoes draft. But I agree with Baldy on Vaughn. I think expectations for him are too high right now. Baldy is right. He does not possess elite speed. He could be quick enough but I don;t think they will use him to split carries with Pollard. I think Ronald Jones and Dowdle will get the carries Zeke was getting.

Tyron is only part of the best five when he's healthy, he hasn't been healthy for 6 years..His contract was reworked to stay on the roster, He'll be the swing tackle now, Tyron will be injured in training camp....like he is every year!! Wishing, hoping and praying isn't a way to run a team...

He agreed to a re-work that ties more than half his pay this year to snaps played. So do you really think he'd agree to a contract like that if he was going to be the swing OT and possibly not play all that much?

Per Todd Archer last week, Tyler is likely the starting LG which means Tyron is starting at LT. That's the plan.

He probably wants to finish his career in Dallas and if he didn't rework his deal he would have been cut, the more he plays, the more money he gets, incentive laden deal, that sounds like a swing tackle deal .....he played 4 games last year, 11 in 2021 and 2 in 2020, if you think he going to play anymore than 8 games, it would be a miracle....We don't know for sure if Steele is going to be ready for Training camp although we were told he was a ahead of schedule, but if Steele isn't ready to go then Tyron will be the right tackle....this is Tyron's last year in Dallas and probably his last year in the league. moving guys all over the line isn't good for continuity of your line....training camp will settle things out, I just think at his age and injury concerns and the way his reworked contract is written, he's the swing tackle..

They weren't going to cut him. He's the starting LT per Archer. Tyler is the LG as of now.

You're making valid points, for sure. I'm hopeful that you can see the other side of the coin, where Dallas will likely have a different player at the LT spot for 70% of 2023 season, right? How well prepared in terms of practice time/talent acquisition are they?

I honestly wish that Dallas would have traded away next years #1 for a high 2nd round pick to get Steve Avila. It would have solved the problem, and also allowed Avila to get some time acclimating while Tyron plays however many games he can hold up for.

It's a win now year... you put all your cards on the table for that!

I would have been good with that.

Don’t get cute, don’t overthink things, and do as little shuffling as possible.

Worry about having a capable backup left tackle if and when Tyron Smith gets hurt. Don’t over complicate it.
we've had better lines - but this isn't bad.
