I still say Schottenheimer's being used to make Kellen Moore more acceptable to the fan base.

Not that I think they aren't dumb enough to hire Schottenheimer but why choose him over Moore? He's their wiz kid. The guy they were personally grooming. Schottenheimer is McCarthy's flunky that he was giving a break to as a tribute to his father who gave the same break to McCarthy years ago.

Why not call Rex Ryan? He'd be an infinitely better candidate. He's got the head coach experience they must have whenever dealing with an outside candidate. He's had success. Been to a championship game twice with the Jets. You have connections with the family. You just interviewed him for defensive coordinator.

MM did not want the job. Deion does not want the job. Ben Johnson was never going to interview for the position.

The Cowboys HC, because of Jerry is not a coveted position anymore.

Unless you are young and impatient, trying to resurrect your career or some nobody else wants, they have better options. Every year there are 5+ coaching positions available and unfortunately we are going to be on the bottom of the list of teams strong candidates want to go to.
