I started here in 2016 as well, but thinking back, I may have just started an account, then didn't use it much until the mass exodus...maybe a year and a half later?
I did try it here while still a member at DC.com but I couldn't get many to play with me here like I could at the old site.
I do not know when I first started to come to the old site or why I even went there in the first place. I do remember being warned about staying on topic within my first five minutes by someone and I recall thinking 'topic, what the hell is the topic? What the hell is a topic"?
I struck gold because some members started immediately interacting and I was typing and laughing, best experience I'd had on the internet, including porn. I was officially hooked.
I get down on social media but that's what this is, it's just not Facebook because they're not going to allow that to happen here and that happens to every one of them if someone doesn't prevent it. As crazy as we get with each other about a football team, can you imagine this site with politics and religion mixed into it?
We have gotten a little too close to that in the Covid Zone because passions run high and I have even found myself across from some long time members I consider friends and I didn't like that feeling.
I am here for the fun and the laughs but I also like the human aspect of this when members share part of their lives, the bad and the good. Makes me feel good to be a part of a forum where members feel comfortable doing that and building stronger connections.
That said, there are just topics we should not get into here. My wife's family is in disarray over politics over the last 5 years and the pandemic served to exacerbate that and it is very sad to see it and that is one thing I am glad she is not here to witness as it would break her heart. I made a pact with all of my friends when this started going sideways, no politics or we'll be just like everyone else.
