Jerry the Gambler is retiring soon and needs a big splash draft to show he's still got it.

Trades:

Cowboys Round 1/15 Pick Traded to Raiders for Picks (1/17,3/96)
Cowboys trade round 1/17 to Chicago for (1/20,3/83)
Cowboys Trade (2/44,3/99,4/120) to Saints for 1/28

Wouldn't be upset with all the deals backward, but Paye just doesn't look the part for me.

I think he struggles at the next level, but I could very well be wrong. Even the actual scouts aren't sure.

Also if the reports of Newsome being out of shape etc at his pro day are true....that's the last guy we need in this environment.

Yes, i was hoping to land TCU Safety Moehrig but he went at 19 to WFT. so went with 10th rated player on the Draft Networks board.
I had not heard of Newsome reports of being out of shape, would have went with Joseph out of Kentucky had i heard that.

Nope, this isn't the way I hope the Cowboys go. Ten picks is enough. They need to get the best players on their board and be happy.

The Jerry is retiring / dying soon angle has been going on for what seems like 10 years now lol

Why? Quality > Quantity

I’d rather draft 2 or 3 starters vs. 10 kids that’ll never sniff the field

Ten is definitely enough.

Depending on who is available when we're on the clock, I'd be okay with a trade down from 10, but I'd want to be packaging players throughout the draft to move up slightly (or more) when necessary.

You seem to have gotten pick 3/96 twice....so from two different teams---Pats and Raiders

I hope not. I would hope enough talent falls to us that our FO could just make a wise selection rather than getting cute with the pick.
