Then I believe you are over-evaluating the talent on the team.

Name all the players, not on the OL, who you believe are above average. Sean Lee is the only one that comes to mind (that is proven. Sure there's some players with "Potential" but word potential is only used for players that haven't actually produced yet).
Dez bryant isnt above average? Morris isnt above average? Beasley isnt above average? Hell, witten has fallen way off and hes easily still
Above average.

This is the record of when Romo starts vs when he doesn't over the past 2 seasons and 1 game. Has there ever been a team so dependent on one player?

In all fairness I think the percentages will start to look better as Dak gets more playing time. I think the guys we had at backup QB just haven't been very good - Dak, in his first live NFL action - was already better than Cassel and as good as Weeden. As he gets better we're going to win games with him at QB. If he's in for the first 4 games I'd expect no worse than 2 - 2 and I think we've got a shot at 3 - 1. Dak is all upside, those other guys had already peaked.

I'll give you Bryant. Witten is now average at this point. I'd put the "potential" tag on Claiborne.

Thats no excuse for garrett not having him ready to read coverage like a 5th year starting qb.

I know it's not going to be popular, but I'm pretty impressed with the coaching staff for getting Dak as ready as he is in such little time. Now I know that a LOT of it has to do with Dak himself, and his improvement is a testimony to his own work ethic, but the coaching staff put him in manageable positions and really did a good job of keeping him from getting overwhelmed. If they didn't suck, then he would definitely have been reading coverage like a 5th year starting QB. But for guys who totally suck, they did pretty well.

And that will not change in my lifetime or yours. When JJ is gone, Stephen will take the title of GM and nothing will change. He's as incapable of building a football team as his daddy is. Watch and see.

I agree.

I think Stephen is a big part of the reason Garrett is still HC. Garrett allows Stephen the charade that he is a player personnel guy.

Romo coming back would be fine with me. I don't think he will last but I think Dak is plug n play so not too worried.

Just look at the roster we're fielding. This is a 3-13, 4-12 team.

The main reason? We've been absolutely terrible at drafting.

I've thought it before that if Romo doesn't win a super bowl as a Dallas Cowboy, that will go down as one of Jerry Jones' top 3 mistakes...

1.)Never putting a championship team around Romo(record setting QB for the franchise)

2.)Firing Johnson

3.)Letting Sean Payton out the door

3 biggest mistakes during his tenure...not in that order.

I would swap 1 and 2.
I still believe we would have been ONLY NFL team to win 4 straight super bowls.

It's ok though because Jerry got to do it his way.

I swear his sold his soul to devil for SBXXX. (Right around Larry's first int)

He even said something about asking for this one and that's it. He said that enough time has lapsed.
He should be entitled to getting another lol

Is Romo that good or is the coaching staff that bad? I think Romo is a victim of the system and himself. He plays like a gamer (which he is) and often times tries to do to much which often times gets him in trouble.

His achilles heel has been trying to do too much. I think he's really tempered that in recent years though. And frankly, seeing the record of the team without him, maybe doing 'too much' was the only way to save games all those years.

I can't really disagree but at the same time we have lost way to many games without him by less than 6 points. I think JG feels like his job is more secure when we keep the games close. One can only imagine how many of those close games we could have won with only an average backup QB. Either way we won't ever win a SB with JG at the helm.
