I didn't start following the Cowboys closely until a year later, so this game was pretty much new to me when I downloaded it last week. Here are some of the better moments in the game (which we won easily, 23-6) that I uploaded to YouTube. You might need to crank the volume a little.

Golden Richards TD (and missed extra point )

I still say that season was Dallas's best defense ever.
They were dominating. Harvey Martin was a beast that year.
This game Too Tall really had a great game I remember.

Yes, he did. And he absolutely dominated the first half of Super Bowl 12.

Was that Crazy Ray in the stands in the Robert Newhouse video? I think it was.

I don't know but I can't imagine that that turned out too good.

A more appropriate question would probably be did he live. I don't think anyone is "okay" after something like that

How on earth did he catch fire in the first place?

This was the year I was born :)

Actually about a year after I was born. I was born on 1-27-1977 and this game was played on 1-1-1978.

Thanks for posting the vids. Great game in Cowboy history. To this day I remember sitting in front of my TV watching and screaming. Good times!

A stray cigarette ash ignited his costume. They were lucky that this didn't trigger some kind of deadly stampede.

Rafferty held on the TD from Staubach to Richards. Just a little. Wonder who saw the flaw in the Vikings defense to call that play.

The play-by-play announcer sounded like Vin Scully but I couldn't figure out who the other guy was.

Great game! Man, Dorsett had some jets didn't he! :starspin

Alex Hawkins.

He was having a very rough game up to that point: two fumbles (one of which was inside the Minny 15), a missed handoff, and a constant limp. Oh well, we won.
