1st & goal

we did pass one 1st down, then ran 3 times from the one.you would think with mb3 we could run it in from the one with 3 tries. kinda hard to blame the staff for that.everyone wants a pass now but had we passed and not scored the same people would be saying "why did'nt we just run it in with the nfc's leading score?"
i would'nt have went for it on 4th down, i would have taken the 3 and went on but you can't really fault the staff for trying to get the team going. had we punched it in it could have been a different game.

I agree. Parcells could have walked away with the 3 but showed faith in his players to do the job. They failed.

The bolded part is exactly right. If we passed and did not make it this thread would be bashing the coaches for not running with Barber

Yeah well... I wasnt necessarily against the going for it on 4th.... but those 3 points would have been nice... they got pumped after stopping us...

lol that's so true.

Playaction pass would have been nice.

Instead we run a sweep on 4th down.

Great play calling.

when they showed the stats of barbers touches inside the 10 all i could think of was the 2 td passes he caught on play action fakes earlier in the year.

I only started this thread because it was a turning point in the game.
Indeed. If we make that TD then it's 14-13 going into the half, maybe even better. That was a demoralizing outcome.

I can't fault them for pounding it to Barber. That was the smart move from inside the 1. I can fault an O-Line that is unable to open up any holes and Hoyte whiffing on his block.

Yeah but at the same time... because of MBIII's success they Eagles were ON IT!

Would have been able to take advantage of their "selling out" for stop MBIII...

Play action to Barber... then pass it to HIM!

Like Borat says, "datsa berry nice"

the 4th down play was bounced outside

If I have a Rb with 14 TDs I dont blame them for trying to run it in. The failure falls to Barber and the OLine

Not Barber, he was hitting a brick wall BEFORE the LOS.

We had it second and goal from the 2 foot line. We were 24 inches away from the goalline. If you can't run it in from the 2 foot line with one of the most bruising RBs in football in 3 tries, you dont deserve to win. I only wish we would have run it up the gut again on 4th down.

Hindsight is 20/20. Every cowboys fan before the game said the boys needed to "run it down their throat". I'm willing to bet if a poll was created before the game on what the call should be 2 foot from the goal line the overwhelming response would have been run it, with several comments about the Eagles porous run D.

I think Hoyte missed a key block on that play,if he gets the block,Barber scores!

That's the mental errors Parcells is always talking about. Hoyte does what he was supposed to and it's an easy TD. That isn't a complicated play to run.

Against the Eagles when we had 1st and goal... did we run it all 4 times?

That wasnt even a great goal line stand by the Eagles as it was unimaginative by us?

How about a bouncing to the outside.... they were all playing the run up the gut.

All great questions... Why not surprise the defense for once instead of trying to ram it down their throats every single time. How about a play action fake to MB3 and then a short pass to him in the flats for a TD. New orleans absolutely obliterated us with that play to the FB. You would think our offensive braintrust would have learned a lesson or two. Noooooo. We have to somehow prove we're mightier than their defense by trying to ram it down their throats. zzz

News Flash: Our Oline, though they have overachieved at times this year, is still a work in progress. Admittedly, hidsight is 20/20..but I sure wish they would be a little more imaginative down there near the goal line every once in awhile.

I believe it was second down it seemed if Barber tries to go over the top instead of through the pile he would have scored.

We're 4th in the league in scoring. We've had 53 possessions in the Red Zone and scored TDs on 33 of them, 3rd best in the NFL.

Holy cripes I know the need to whine is overwhelming, but can we contain it to the stuff we are actually doing wrong?

The first was a pass to Fasano or Witten wasn't it?

Hoyte was the problem I think. If he makes that block MBIII scores. He has been pretty solid though all year.
