If Atlanta lost against a team missing its best WR, QB, CB, pass rushers, and one of its best linemen, then that's a serious problem on their part.
Probably among the things mentioned in their locker room at halftime.

A decent pass rush and Dallas wins this one going away. A decent pass rush would have forced turnovers.

Too many quick hitters. Best pass rush ever can't get to a QB that steps back and immediately releases.

We lost because the FalconsFalcons D realized they didn't have to worry about any deep throws so they could sell out on the run and only have to worry about short passes. I blame Linehan for this loss. Gotta put a little fear of a deep ball in the D's mind.

You got this wrong somewhat. I was in the chart and all I saw was Garrett being roasted, nothing about linehans offense. It's like CBZ members thought Garrett was still calling the plays

Dallas doesn't coach..

We have a system.. That's all we do..

When it works it works and when it doesn't it doesn't. Dallas doesn't scheme teams.

I agree.

Watching today gave me nightmares of the GB game last year.

There again we had no pass rush and we had to stand by while the defense got shredded.

I realize we are heavily injured defensively.

And I realize the same on offense with Leary, Romo and Dez gone.

But still..

Garrett has to see some of these things happening during the game and MUST make the coaches do something else when something is a mis.

I blame this loss completely on the ineptitude of the coaching staff.

You have to wonder what the players were thinking watching this game.

Can't imagine it created any confidence going forward.

The defensive line's success is predicated on high energy, 100% effort every play. Realistically, this cannot be achieved by a single player at each position. Therefore substitution is critical. You must have backups that play almost to the same level as the starters. Really, there are no backups, just a group of 6 to 8 part-time starters. It worked well in the early 90's when we had the bodies.

We just didn't have the bodies today. We were missing two potential high contributors in Hardy and Gregory. Then we lose Mincey. They got tired quick.

McClain in the middle would have stopped a lot of those gashing runs by the Falcons.

Then on offense, we lose an All Pro WR and a Pro Bowl team leader QB. Without the field stretching Bryant, the offense was exposed.

A QB that lacks experience in the system is going to be limited and the play calling is going to be limited. Combine that with the loss of Bryant and the big play potential shrivels. You also have a rookie on the offensive line with his very first NFL start.

Injuries were a very large contributor in this loss.

1. Defense just lets you chip at them all day.. You mix in the run with chip passes all day then that is what you get.

2. To predictable on first down.

Offense did their job though at the end of the day.
What game did you watch?

They did their job the 1st half, I'll give them that. But the 2nd half they didn't bother to show up and checked out of the game.

How many first downs did they get? How long did they have the ball in the 2nd half? How many points did they score?

Yes, the defense was awful the 2nd half but then what do you expect when you're on the field 95% of the time because your offense went into full re-tard mode.

Last season, and this season so far, we run the ball on 1st down 95% of the time. It's insanely predictable. In fact, it's not hard to predict what we'll do in most situations. The fact we throw to Witten 5 yards out on a 3rd and 15 (for example) is troubling.

It was about what I figured. Being down Romo and Dez leaves a massive void in this offense. The Falcons adjusted in the second half, crowded the line and dared Dallas to beat them deep. Dallas said no thank you to that.

If that is what they think of Weeden's ability then they should have replaced him a long time ago. That was seriously sad.

The Cowboys have been proactive about getting a backup QB in here ONE TIME since Romo was the starter. That was with Kyle Orton and they almost made the playoffs because of it. They learned nothing from that and made no attempt to even challenge LITERAL Brandon Weeden this year. I could understand why he was here last year because Orton basically quit on the team and they had to do something, but there was no argument for Weeden being unchallenged this year. And please don't tell me about Dustin Vaughan. There's no way they watched that guy this whole offseason and thought he could compete. If they did we're never gonna have a good QB again.

1. Romo wasn't there to bail the team out in the 4th quarter.
2. Defense folded

Defense lost this game. Obviously the offense went in the tank in the 2nd half but overall you cant expect to win games needing to score 40.

If the Cowboys called 1 play-action pass on 1st down, i think the entire stadium would try to tackle the RB.

Got that.

True..

but the lack of any adjustments either offensively or defensively was pathetic.

I mean when they stack 8 in the box..

You throw down field to back them off..

never happened.

When Julio Jones is shredding your secondary and the pass rush can't get to Ryan..

send some safeties or CBs or LBers on some blitzes..

don't just let the other team dictate.

I thought we were a better team than this.

I stand corrected..obviously not.

I wasn't just JJ, their RB Freeman had nearly 200 yards combined.

If you can't stop the run, double teaming JJ would just have left even bigger holes for Freeman to run through.

Run the ball and stop them running the ball is key.

We could do neither in the 2nd half.

One reason we lost-injuries
I'm all in with "injuries are not an excuse

2. To predictable on first down.

Offense did their job though at the end of the day.

It is easy....when you game plan against this team there is nothing to fear. I can see the D-Coordinators of our opponents pacing night and day thinking of schemes to stop the Trio of weeden/williams/randle. Yeah that strikes fear. And once again, another year of no pass rush.
