yes, it can. it doesn't have to be a top 10 defense, but reliable. reduced the 3rd down conversions. reduce points scored against. shore up redzone defense and this team will have a shot
 
I kind of agree with Nick Eatman, the offense is what will make them a contender. The defense is vastly improved and has many new and better players on it. But it isn't so loaded with talent to say that it will make them a contender.
But if it isn't a liability, if it can actually make some key stops, get some key turnovers and get the offense some shorter fields to work with, than yes, this team can be a contender. Because of it's offense.

Yea that's not how the math works. They could have added any of those players even with Micah.

No combination of that 6 is impactful as Micah anyway.

No they could not have added them. Where was all that money coming from then? They wud not have had the draft capital to get those extra players on rookie contracts.

So YES that is how the math works.

Micah was not that good of a player to have the impact of 6 players.
Where was he in December and the playoffs? Where is he now. Oh, that would be that the rehab field.

This is stupid. The players on rookie contracts you're referencing do not exist, except for Lawrence.

Micah's cap hit right now is $19m. Gary and Lawrence account for ~$9.3m, neither would be here.

Quinnen Williams was not acquired with picks from the Micah trade, neither was Downs. With a Pickens extension they would have more than enough cap space to acquire any of Thompson, Locke, Winters, Durant, Ogbonnia and Bullard lol.

You have no idea what you are unequivocally wrong. Math is undefeated.
 
Last season Dallas had the absolute worst defense I have ever seen as a fan. If you rival Mike freaking Nolan, you know you suck. It almost HAS to improve.

They took that pick from GB and got Lawrence and 2 - 4th round picks. Both players with high potential, and can contribute right away.
They used one of the picks to obtain Q. Williams, and got Clark in the trade as well. It may be Dallas's or GB's 1st round pick in 2027, but none the less it it the same. They could afford to give up a pick for him. As to without the Micah trade would have the door that. I doubt it.

They were able to acquire more FA's, like the ones you mentioned.

The offense is among the best in the league so a drastic improvement on defense would indeed make the Cowboys a legitimate contender. This is common sense.

In I fact i bet I could go back and find plenty of No C praise for Eberflus last summer and fall.
