To be honest I think the best plan for the Cowboys is to move Tyler Smith to LT, and play Guyton at RT. There is an "out" for Terence Steele's big contract next year I think.
So let's have 4 new starting lineman with Zach Martin.

Maybe we should ask Guyton to lose 30 pounds and 3 inches to play Guard.

I think signing Zeke back has an impact on this , think tank of the team knows Guyton will have growing pain and so having Zeke will help in Pass protection.

But that’s all moot if Guyton struggles in the camp ( against Parssons it’s ok , but rest )
Zeke is one of the very best at it but he can only block one guy at a time and if we are talking a DE coming full bore he can only just barely slow him down; hopefully buy DAK enough time to throw it away and keep from getting subdivided.

Gonna say it right now....Guyton will never make it @ left tackle. We drafted a right tackle that's gonna struggle with the conversion.
You may be right but he was charged with protecting the blind side of a left handed QB, which is what he would be doing for Dak a right handed QB.

He always faced the best pass rusher on each team he faced. So for, I will give him the benefit of the doubt until we see otherwise.

This certainly has to be the lesser of all the O-lines he's been behind......although it can't be as bad as Burrow getting sacked 70 times in the 2021 season.......including 7 in the SB game.....ouch.
If I remember right the 2018 line play was very bad. That was the year Travis Frederick was out with that illness and Tyron Smith also got hurt. They allowed well over 50 sacks that year if memory serves me.

Exactly my original thought, but nope….Steeles 17 million dollar salary for 2025 is already guaranteed.

“Cheap” is probably indeed the wrong word.

There was no reason whatsoever to give him that kind of structure.

Jethro's minions are remarkably silent about that deal. We should have signed him for a good one year deal not any more since he had been injured; two year at the most.

Guyton was originally a LT that they moved to RT because of that left handed qb. He has also said that he's more comfortable on the left side. Tyron Smith played RT his whole career at USC and then for his rookie year with the Cowboys before he switched to LT.

Yup, I forgot about that season. It was an anomaly when you look at all the other years of great protection.

Tyler deserves to be bestowed with the honor of being the starter at LT whenever the coaches say it's time to do so.

That's just standard procedure. It's up to the offensive coaches to make that decision -- that's what they're there for.

Ok, I was going to put  as a response, but I would rather hear the reasoning for your comment brother...

Why do you believe Guyton will struggle at Left Tackle?

No player: None. Should be signed to a long term deal immediately after a serious injury. GM Jethro makes a habit of it.

How much would you be comfortable to bet, if we don't sign CD this year and he gets hurt, GM Jethro will give him a 5 year deal???

I think Guyton is more "NFL-ready" than most people think. He may not start week 1 but he'll be our starting LT by midseason. The Cowboys have a tough first half of the schedule. Not having a reliable LT will be a major factor for early season failure. I'm thankful Zeke will reinforce that leaky left side of the O-line.

C'mon you already know it will be 100% Dak's fault.
