He ain't going to look great at any point in the season. Come on man, didn't you pay attention to his last year here, and his year in NE? How can you delude yourself like that?

I kinda hoped Leupke begins to develop into that lead blocker, short yardage specialist I thought he could be. Maybe more if he can also catch. Too many better options than to try to force the ball to vaughn.
They never tried to force the ball to Vaughn. Most of his carries were when they were trying to run out the clock. When everyone in the world knows it's coming.
Yeah they used him exactly how you shouldn’t.
Another example of Big Mike's failure as a HC last year.

There are many others.
After the first month of the season, the Cowboys basically didn't use Vaughn at all.
48 offensive snaps in mop-up duty (plus 11 ST plays ) weeks 1 through 5 - then he was inactive for 10 of the remaining 12 games.

Even with the less than stellar competition this summer, Vaughn is facing an uphill battle to remain on the roster.

I still can't see the hype for Deuce. This team uses up roster spots for gadget players that never work out.
They tell us how great they are and how they will be used.

Remember Lance Dunbar. Did not work with him either.
I'm not mad at the Cowboys for taking a risk on Deuce, but you're right. Gadget players dont work out that often in the NFL, plus they already have a guy that fits the bill in Turpin....is there room for two of these guys again? Deuce is going to have to show that he can contribute in other ways. With the new rules he may have an opportunity to do that on kickoffs, but needs to show improvement as either a runner or receiver. Honestly his best chance may be showing promise as a receiver. With this team going RBBC i'm just not sure where he fits in the committee. If he can be that 4th RB/6th WR hybrid who gets 5-10 snaps and can contribute on special teams he's worth the roster spot. If not I have to believe they are looking to get him on the practice squad.

Unfortunately, he’s probably our best back.
I hope he ends up being our best back, but I have a bad feeling Royce Freeman ends up getting a lot more touches than we think he will.

If Freeman gets more touches, that means he’s doing well. I would rather keep Zeke as fresh as possible.

I would agree that we need a less is more approach with Zeke. If he can be a short yardage and 3rd down back he can be a useful resource. Freemen is a known commodity at this point though, and while I like the move to bring him in I like him a whole lot more as a backup player. I think Freeman getting significant snaps means guys like Rico and Deuce didn't step up.

If you listen to the Cowboys it’s going be a committee at RB. How the carries will be distributed depends on how they play.

Sure, but we aren't exactly talking about a competitive backfield committee here. Freeman getting a high number of touches could simply mean that other guys are not performing. Maybe this group will surprise me, but I think you could take the starting back from almost any other team in football and they would instantly become the main feature of this committee.

I wouldn’t be getting excited about Freeman. He hasn’t cracked 400 yards rushing in six years. The guy is a jag. He won’t be getting a high number of touches if he’s not performing well. It’s going to be a committee and if one back gets hot, they’ll stick with them for a while.
