Dez thinks Zeke can get 2000 yards this season. There's two questions that I have for the forum on this:

1. Will he?
2. Should he - that is, what if it requires an inordinate amount of carries?

I don't know how to add a poll, but if we could get a poll added to the thread for the "will he?" (yes/no) question that would be great.

For those that have got 2000 yards.... How many yards did they have around week 10?

Dickersons record is the one I want to see go down.. 2000 would just be the cherry on top.

2000yds rushing or 2000yds from scrimmage? I'd say the latter is very possible.

I mean, I really don't know how to answer this question because what I saw from Zeke Sunday was pure dominance. There was another break away play Ezekiel Elliott almost had that would have been a touch down had he not lost his footing going out of bounds. Right now, all Cowboys fans are wondering who Zeke and Dak are. We see what we see, but we're not sure it's for real or not.

Give me two more games, and I'll be able to answer the question more articulately.

We'll see. If the big plays start happening, the yardage might start to add up. With Dez back and--either via Tony coming back or Dak pushing things downfield a bit more--teams are going to pay a bit more for defending the run. It'll be interesting to see what the next 4-5 games hold.

We're also playing some better teams here, though, and might not have the 4th quarter leads that add to those rushing attempts.

Too early to predict. If he averages his numbers from the last 3 games for 11 games then yes. But again it's only 3 games. I'm sure we'll see games where we aren't playing from ahead and we go away from a run game and he gets 60 yards instead of 120+

Nope. I fear at some point he is going to hit that "rookie wall".

Need lots of big plays to hit 2000 rushing
I think Dickerson record is reachable and if he hits it he will have 2000 from scrimmage for sure

If Zeke could replicate this past sunday the rest of the season he would crack 2000 rushing yards on 274 carries. Obviously I don't expect him to maintain 8+ yards a carry but just saying.

So long as he does it in 300 carries or less......fine.

But don't run him into the ground with carries with Alfred Morris ready and able to help.

Can't agree with this more. I'm not sure why everyone wants him to set all these records. Look at what happens to backs who get tons of carries and yards - they fall apart, period. Stats are way overrated, I could care less what milestones he breaks.

Unless we spent a 4th pick to burn him out during his 4 year rook contract then spit him out. Morris should get plenty of tough carries, he might not hit the home runs but should absolutely get the ball.

I'd rather avoid 2,000. It's likely to mean a lot of needless carries, especially when we have Morris as the #2 RB.

Get me 1,500 yards on < 300 yard carries and I would be ecstatic and it would be well worth the pick (and I'll admit I was wrong on the pick...although we still could've gotten him by trading down 2 spots).

Keep EE rested and build a long career for him.

He'd have to average 132, so if he had multiple games around 170, it would be possible. I don't really see him getting too many opportunities to rush for that much unless he does what he did against Cincy and hits a big gainer among his 20 or so carries.

So far, he's only had one game with more than 23 carries (30 against Chicago), so Dallas isn't going to let him get the carries he'll likely need for 2,000 yards.

I don't care about any silly individual titles. I would like him fresh for the playoffs and years to come.
If he does it in like 220-250 carries fine, but not looking to burn out our new engine. Don't need to redline that sucka.

Just my opinion, I know accolades are nice.

No and not applicable. Run the other horses.

I don't really put a carry count on any great running back. It is true that the shelf life of a RB is normally short bust special backs can carry it for a long time. I see Elliott as that way potentially.
